Baldur

This is a beginner's guide on how to infiltrate the Shattered Sanctum at the Goblin Camp in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3). Learn how you can enter the sanctum peacefully and whether you should continue persuading the guards or going all out.

Where to Find the Shattered Sanctum

Head to the Goblin Camp

Goblin Camp Map and Location
Goblin Camp
X: 401, Y: 25

The Goblin Camp can be accessed early on in Act 1 by simply heading west from the Blighted Village. You will have pass through several dialogue checks, however, unless you choose to fight (which is several times harder) with low-level characters.

Having at least a party of Lv. 3 members is recommended in case fights break out along the way.

Passing the Blighted Village

Baldur

NPC Dialogue
Goblin Booyahg: Don't bother runnin'. My archers got decent aim and plenty of arrows. (Rune Glows)
Dialogue Options Dialogue Results
[INTIMIDATION (DC15)] I'm not running, and their aim's not good enough to save you
Success:
Goblin lets you pass.
Failure:
Triggers fight.
[PERSUASION] (DC15)] Spare them the trouble and just let me pass - I'll be gone in no time.
Success:
Goblin lets you pass.
Failure:
Triggers fight.
[ILLITHID] [WISDOM] (DC2)] Stand down. Now.
Success:
Goblin lets you pass.
Failure:
Triggers fight.

You will have to get past the Blighted Village, where you can either persuade the guarding goblins to stand down, enter undetected, or defeat them.

The easiest choice would be to persuade them. Once past the Blighted Village, head to the Goblin Camp.

Persuade the Goblin Camp Sentinel

Baldur

NPC Dialogue
Sentinel Olak: Unless you got another reason to be here, feck-shite. (Rune Glows)
Dialogue Options Dialogue Results
I'm looking for someone named Halsin.
Result:
Goblin refuses to let you in. Choose another option.
[ILLITHID] [WISDOM] (DC2)] Stand aside.
Success:
Goblin lets you pass.
Failure:
Triggers fight.
[INTIMIDATION (DC15)] I'm a hired sword - employer's inside. Stand aside. Now.
Success:
Goblin lets you pass.
Failure:
Triggers fight.
[DECEPTION] (DC15)] Your leader summoned me.
Success:
Goblin lets you pass.
Failure:
Choose the dialog option to smear dung across your face to pass.
[DETECT THOUGHTS] (DC9)] Read the goblin's mind.
Success:
Tell him you are Minthara's messenger to let you pass.
Failure:
Triggers fight.

Dialog options above may differ depending on your class.

The best way to get inside the main camp at this point is to persuade the goblin camp sentinel. You can make your way through with brute force, but take note that there will be a lot of goblins to deal with.

Succeeding in persuading the guard will make you friendly to the rest of the goblins in the camp up until getting inside the Shattered Sanctum.

Enter the Shattered Sanctum

Shattered Sanctum Entrance
Heavy Oak Doors (Goblin Camp)
X: 105 , Y: 461
Baldur

To enter the Shattered Sanctum, head to north of the Goblin Camp and enter through the Heavy Oak Doors. No need to mind the guarding Ogre at the side.

Infiltrating the Shattered Sanctum

Use Dialogue Checks to Get Inside

Baldur

The result of going into the Goblin Camp and the Shattered Sanctum without a fight is being able to accomplish a couple of questlines without having to fight large amount of goblins and the True Souls.

This will also make it easier for you to save the archdruid Halsin for defending the Emerald Grove. If not defending the grove, safe infiltration is a crucial step to joining Minthara in destroying the grove.

You can always choose to get inside aggressively, but better be prepared to deal with boss fights if you decide to go all out. You can opt to infiltrate inside safely first, then take out enemies one-by-one without alerting the rest.

Get Past Warrior Trinzas in the Shattered Sanctum

Baldur

NPC Dialogue
Warrior Trinzas: State yer business, now. (Rune Glows)
Dialogue Options Dialogue Results
[ILLITHID] [WISDOM] (DC2)] I'm not here to talk to a lowly guard.
Success:
Granted entry.
Failure:
Starts battle.
[DECEPTION (DC15)] I've got an audience with the one in charge.
Success:
Granted entry.
Failure:
Sent off.
[INTIMIDATION (DC15)] You don't need to know about my business. Move.
Success:
Granted entry.
Failure:
Sent off.
[DETECT THOUGHTS (DC9)] Probe her thoughts. Success:
Gain dialogue option to grant entry.
Failure:
Starts battle.
They seem ready to attack - be the one to strike first.
Result:
Starts battle.

Choosing to Detect Thoughts is one of the easiest to succeed in above after the Illithid option.

Upon entering the Shattered Sanctum, go down the hallway until you are stopped by Warrior Trinzas.

Succeeding in the non-violent dialogue options with her will have her grant you passage! From here, you can walk around the sanctum safely.

You can opt to fight and defeat the guards, which is much harder than trying to persuade her.
