Follow the Path Until You Meet the Harpers

Upon setting foot in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, keep following the path until you come across a group of Harpers patrolling the area. There won't be any other route besides this one, so keep venturing onwards.

Take note that the area is plagued with the Shadow Curse and you will have to temporarily use a light source to protect yourself.

Move from One Glowing Tree to Another

You can use the light source from the surrounding glowing trees to protect yourself from the curse.

Enter turn-based mode, and move from one tree to another to avoid taking damage.

Additionally, Shadowheart is immune to the Shadow Curse in the starting areas of the region, so letting her take point would be a good decision.

Light Spell Can Be Used as Protection

If you have the Light Spell with you, it can also be used to negate the effects of the Shadow Curse. Cast it out on yourself and be sure that your party members will stay close to you while you're moving.

You don't need to use turn-based mode when this spell is active as you're free to move around the area without being afflicted by the curse.

Eliminate the Shadows

Once you meet the Harpers patrolling the region, multiple shadows will emerge from the darkness. Fight alongside the Harpers and help them defeat all the Shadows.

They are weak to Radiant spells, so use Guiding Bolt or Turn Undead if you have Shadowheart in your party.

Go to the Last Light Inn

After the fight, you'll gain the trust of the Harpers and they will mark the location of the Last Light Inn on your map—head over there, it should be directly west of you.

Do Not Interact With the Dead Raven

Along the way you'll come across a dead raven lying on the road. Leave it alone and DO NOT interact with it as this will summon several flocks of raven that will attack you.

If you accidentally did and got swarmed, disengage to a safe distance and start hurling out AoE spells such as Fireball and Shatter, as well as some elemental arrows to annihilate them since all of them have low HP.

Deal With Jaheira's Interrogation

Jaheira will interrogate you with a few questions before being allowed in the Last Light Inn. Tell her that you want to destroy the Absolute in Moonrise Towers to get on her good side, then you'll be granted entrance in the haven.

Head Upstairs to Isobel's Room

Go inside the tavern and Jaheira will inform you that Isobel can assist you in getting inside Moonrise Towers through her divine protection.

Head upstairs to Isobel's room. It shouldn't be difficult to find as it's the only room on the second floor.

Defeat Flaming Fist Marcus or Agree to Kidnap Isobel

Entering the room will prompt a conversation with Marcus, asking you to help him in kidnapping Isobel, you don't have to make a decision just yet. Talk to Isobel on the balcony and she will grant you Selune's divine blessing as protection from the Shadow's Curse.

After this, you will have to choose on whether you will side with Marcus to kidnap her, or save Isobel from getting abducted.

Defeat Flaming Fist Marcus

If you side with Isobel, winged horrors will be called upon by Marcus and you will enter battle with them.

Ignore the winged creatures and have your party focus on Marcus first as he can kill Isobel within 2-3 turns. Once Marcus is dead, you can now shift your attention to the winged horrors.

In the event that Isobel's HP drops to 0 and gets abducted, the Moon Barrier dissipates, and you'll be plunged into a second battle against darkness-turned Harpers and giant tendrils. Jaheira will also join you in battling them, and would still join your camp afterwards despite the abduction.

To add to this, Art Cullagh will also die if the Last Night Inn gets plunged into darkness, preventing you from knowing the whereabouts of Thaniel during the Lift the Shadow Curse quest.

Agree to Kidnap Isobel

If you side with Marcus and agree to kidnap Isobel, you'll have to knock her out by depleting all her HP, and kill everyone inside the inn.

Choosing to go with this decision will prevent Jaheira from joining your camp as you'll also have to kill her along with the other Harpers.

After Isobel gets kidnapped, the barrier protecting the Last Light Inn will falter, and you'll be forced to kill the remaining Harpers outside the tavern as they succumb to the darkness.

Ambush Kar'niss

Meet with Harper Branthos by the entrance of the Last Light Inn and head to the ambush point to the south. A cultist convoy lead by Kar'niss will come strolling by.

Signal the Harpers to attack through dialogue choice, and this will commence a battle with the cult.

NOTE: You can still ambush Kar'niss's convoy regardless if the Harper ambush squad survives Isobel's abduction or not.

Attack Kar'niss from Outside the Protection Spell

Kar'niss is protected by Sanctuary and cannot be damaged within the sphere that's protecting him. You will have to attack him from outside the protection radius using spells or ranged attacks.

Use Drow Poison or Hold Person to Immobilize Kar'niss

You can use Drow Poison or Hold Person to immobilize Kar'niss so you can take out the other cultists first.

After dealing with them, you can shift your focus back to Kar'niss to easily defeat him without anyone standing in your way.

Take the Moonlantern

Grab the Moonlantern from the corpse of Kar'niss and you'll be able to travel across the Shadow-Cursed lands, free from the negative effects of the curse.

Free the Pixie Inside to Get Filigreed Feywild Bell

If you free the pixie trapped inside the Moonlantern, she'll give you the Filigreed Feywild Bell which also acts as protection from the curse through the Pixie Blessing passive condition.

This allows you to pass through the darkness surrounding Moonrise Towers without having to wield the Moonlantern on your hands.

You'll Have to Equip the Moonlantern if You Don't Free Her

If you don't free her, you'll have to bring out and equip the Moonlantern at all times when infiltrating Moonrise Towers as you won't receive the Pixie Blessing condition.

Equipping the Moonlantern prevents you from using weapons that require two hands to wield.
