Baldur
You could destroy objects in Baldur's Gate 3 by hovering your cursor on the highlighted object attacking it. Check out our guide on the uses of destroying specific objects or environments in the game.

How to Destroy Destructible Objects

Highlight the Object and Select Attack

Baldur
Highlight the object you want to destroy using your cursor, then right click on the target and choose the Attack option. You could also use Weapon Actions or spells on your character interface, then select the object you want to destroy using the action you've chosen.

Some destructible objects have certain resistances that you could check by selecting the Examine option. There are cases where you will need to deal a specific damage type, such as Slashing, Piercing or Bludgeoning, towards an object in order to destroy it.

You will also need to consider the amount of damage you could dish out per hit in order to destroy an object. Knowing what damage type to use towards an object will not necessarily destroy it.

A good indicator of knowing if the object is destructible or not is by examining the existence of a health bar above it. If an object has a health bar, it is most likely indestructible.

Uses of Destroying Objects

Destroying War Horns/Drums Prevent Enemy Reinforcements

Baldur
You could destroy war horns or war drums in the possession of enemy hands to prevent additional enemy reinforcements from being called in the battlefield.

Destroying Barrels Containing Elemental Hazards

You could also destroy barrels containing elemental hazards, which can sometimes give you an advantage in battle.

Destroying water barrels will result to water surfaces, and can be taken advantage of by casting a lightning spell on the water. Enemies in the vicinity of the electrified water surface will be electrocuted, so be sure you are not in range of the area effect.

Another creative way of defeating your enemies is to throw a Bomb or shoot an Arrow of Fire towards an alcohol barrel to ignite it, causing devastating damage to the enemies near it. Again, be sure you are not in range of the effect when executing this.
