Balduer
Shove is a bonus action in Baldur's Gate 3, where a character pushes an object or a creature away from them or at something. Learn more about shove and the best uses of it in the game!

How to Shove

Use the Bonus Action Shove

Baldur
You can shove an enemy at a close distance by selecting the Shoving Hand icon on the screen. You will consume one Bonus Action per shove during combat.

Note that some Classes have more Bonus Actions than others, allowing them to perform more shove during a single turn.

Other Summoned Units Can Use Shove

Balduer
Summoned units, like a Mage Hand, can also use shove. You can summon one in your party to help you shove objects, enemies, and other possible targets on the field!

Best Uses of Shove

Push Enemies Off a Cliff

Balduer
Enemies will take a lot of damage when you shove them off a cliff because of the fall damage. Try to get to a high place and let them follow you for an easier time killing them.

Possible to Push them into Traps as well

You can also push them into traps, like flaming ground, spiked surfaces, and more, using shove to deal extra damage. However, it requires better positioning to make it work.

Wake Up Sleeping Allies

Balduer
You can shove your allies to wake them from their slumber if they ever slept in battle due to spells. Shove won't inflict any damage, so it's safe to use on allies, especially in this situation!

Move Allies Away from Danger

Balduer
You can also shove your companions as long as they're within reach. You can use it to move them away from danger, especially if they're out of movement and stuck in a disadvantageous position.

However, do this with caution as you might push them off on a trap, a cliff, or to more enemies!

Use Shove Outside of Combat

Balduer
You can get creative and start moving objects outside of combat to pass through obstacles or prepare a trap for your enemies. You will have unlimited uses of shove when not in combat, so don't worry about not getting enough actions!
