Being a Warlock, Wyll's primary ability score will be Charisma. Put points into this ability as you progress through the game to make his spells more effective in combat.
Hailing from a famed Baldurian family, Wyll now lives an adventurous life on the road as the monster hunter famously known as the Blade of Frontiers. Known throughout the Sword Coast as a champion of justice, Wyll plays up his role despite the rather seedy origin of his powers.
In Baldur's Gate 3, events will drive Wyll to start reconsidering the pact he made with the demon Mizora. Despite all the good his powers can achieve, Wyll struggles to find a way to escape his infernal contract as the devil's due starts weighing heavily on his conscience.
You'll first encounter Wyll at the gates of the Druid Grove. He will help defend the settlement against the goblins threatening to attack it. To recruit him, head inside the Druid Grove after defeating the goblins and look for Wyll in The Hollow. He can be found teaching Tiefling kids how to fight.
Speak to Wyll (allowing your parasites to commune) and tell him you should team up to recruit him to your party. If you have a full party, you can send Wyll back to your camp after this initial interaction.
Heads up! | Spoilers ahead for majority of BG3's main story beats. Proceed at your own risk, adventurer. You have been warned! |

The Blade of Frontiers is Wyll's companion quest that revolves around his relationship with Mizora as well as his Baldurian background. When Wyll learns of the Grand Duke's capture in Act 1, help him navigate the following objectives to complete his companion quest:
After meeting Wyll in the Druid Grove, he will mention that he is currently on a quest to hunt down a demon named Karlach. Help him track her down along the Risen Road to complete this leg of Wyll's quest.
Once you find Karlach, you will have the option of either helping her (recruitment) or killing her (Wyll's original mission). Your choice here will affect the outcome of your first meeting with Mizora, later on in the game.
Choose between the demon aesthetic or a cool robe from Mizora.
If you decide to spare Karlach and keep her in your group, Mizora will turn Wyll into a demon once she visits you during one of your Long Rests. This results in a visual change that will affect how other characters react to Wyll later on in the game (particularly when meeting Duke Ravenguard).
However, if you decide to kill Karlach, Mizora will reward Wyll with a very rare armor piece called the Infernal Robe. Naturally, this comes at the cost of Karlach's permanent death, locking you out of any and all interactions involving her for the rest of the game.
To progress Wyll's companion quest during Act 1, players will need to head to Waukeen's Rest. Rescue Counsellor Florrick from within the burning inn to learn about the capture of Grand Duke Ulder Ravenguard (this triggers the Rescue the Grand Duke quest).
If you have Wyll in your party during the conversation with Florrick, he will reveal that Ulder Ravenguard is his father. Agree with him that you need to rescue the Grand Duke to score some approval points. If you don't have Wyll in your party, this conversation will be available back at Camp.
Rescue the Grand Duke Walkthrough
Upon reaching Act 2, Mizora will tell Wyll that he needs to rescue one of Zariel's demonic assets inside Moonrise Towers. Coincidentally, the Grand Duke is also being kept inside the same Absolute stronghold. Progress through Act 2 and assault Moonrise Towers to reach the Mind Flayer colony where you can rescue both targets.
To continue Wyll's companion quest, you will need to learn of Mizora's fate inside the Mind Flayer colony as well as the parasite infection of Grand Duke Ulder Ravenguard at the hands of the Dead Three.
Once you arrive at the Mind Flayer colony, you will realize that it was Mizora who needed saving when you find her trapped inside a Mind Flayer pod. You have the option to either rescue her or annihilate her using the pod's controls.
If you decide to rescue Mizora, she will free Wyll from their contract (with some stipulations). Additionally, you can convince her to give you more rewards in the form of an Infernal Rapier for Wyll.
However, if you decide to obliterate Mizora using the pod controls, Wyll will be dragged to Hell alongside her. Nothing will be left of the Blade of Frontiers except a pile of ash (and a distraught Karlach if you kept her alive).
After the events of Act 2, Ulder Ravenguard will be spirited away once Enver Gortash's appointment as duke concludes during Act 3. With leads on the Grand Duke's whereabouts drying up once you reach Baldur's Gate, Mizora will return and offer Wyll a brand new contract.
In exchange for information on where Grand Duke is being kept, Mizora wants Wyll to renew their old pact. To progress Wyll's companion quest, you will need to choose between eternal servitude to Mizora or freedom at the cost of Duke Ravenguard's life.
Players who want Wyll to remain a free soul should not sign the contract. Even without Mizora's help, you will still be able to rescue the Grand Duke later on during the Save the Gondians questline in Baldur's Gate. However, do note that this will affect how Wyll reacts during the ending sequence of Baldur's Gate 3.
To conclude Wyll's companion quest, players will need to rescue Duke Ravenguard from Gortash's underwater prison, the Iron Throne. If you chose not to make a deal with Mizora, she will make the rescue attempt harder by summoning exploding spiders as soon as you free Duke Ravenguard from his cell.
On a successful rescue attempt, you can follow Duke Ravenguard back to your camp. There, Wyll and his father will get some much needed closure. Wyll's companion quest will conclude after he manages to decide what he'll do once you defeat the cult of the Absolute.
Wyll's personality dictates that you act like a hero and champion the helpless. During conversations, he will approve if you pick dialogue options that serve to help others against an evil they are facing (such as facing off against Goblins or calling out the hag). This also includes helping out factions considered good like the Flaming Fist and Harpers you encounter throughout the main story.
This list is currently being updated! Stay tuned as we furnish both lists with more entries as we progress through the game.
Choose The Fiend subclass for Wyll if you want him to focus more on damage and increasing his survivability in battle due to the Dark One's Blessing passive. It's also a bit simple to build as Wyll levels up, making this subclass beginner-friendly for him.
Although The Great Old One subclass offers a balanced number of damaging and mostly debuff spells. You can assign this to Wyll if the party lacks a bit of both to cover them.
The Great Old One Subclass Guide
The Fay subclass mostly focuses on applying a debuff on your enemies so your team can get the advantage over them. If you have a party member that can deal a lot of damage over debuff-affected enemies, this is a good subclass for Wyll.
The Pact of the Blade can work well with Wyll because of his high Charisma score. All of his damage will scale from Charisma when using a weapon from the Pact of the Blade, making him a force to be reckoned with when someone gets close to him.
Pact of the Blade also is a great multiclassing option for Wyll. You can change his class into anything while keeping powerful spells, like his most-used Eldritch Blast.
The Pact of the Chain is also a good pact for Wyll, as it will give him access to several summoned units. Each of them has different abilities that can help the team in and out of combat.
