Simple Weapons are weapons that can be generally used by almost anyone regardless of class or race or lack of training. Martial Weapons, on the other hand, are more specialized weapons that require additional training to be able to use efficiently. Martial weapons also require having proficiency in that specific weapon to unlock additional abilities and actions using said weapon type.
