Custom Mode is a new difficulty setting in Patch 5 of Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) that allows players to tailor their experiences. Here, you'll learn about Custom Mode and all its options.

Customizable Difficulty Setting

Baldur

Custom Mode allows players to change up how the game is played beyond the three standard diffculty settings. This mode lets you mix and match different options to suit the experience you want. Do note that you cannot change these options once you've started a campaign, so consider them well.

  • Single Save - When turned on, you'll only have a single save just like Honor Mode. You cannot reload older saves.
  • Enemy Aggression - Adjustable from Explorer to Tactician.
  • Character Power - Adjustable from Explorer to Tactician.
  • Enemy Loadouts - Adjustable from Explorer to Tactician.
  • Additional Combat Mechanics - Adjustable from Explorer to Tactician.
  • Proficiency Bonus - Adjusts the proficiency bonus of all characters.
  • Enemy Critical Hits
  • No Death Saving Throws - Toggle to enable or disable Death Saving Throws.
  • Disable Free First Strikes
  • Camp Cost Multiplier
  • Short Rest Full Heal
  • Trader Price Modifier
  • Multiclassing - Enables or disables Multiclassing.
  • Always Prompt Reactions
  • Hide NPC Health
  • Hide Failed Perception Rolls
  • Hide Passive Rolls in Dialogues
  • Preview Dialogue Check Difficulty Before Rolling
  • Hide Difficulty Class During Rolls - Hides or shows Difficulty Class.
