Baldur
Last Light Inn is a curse-free area in the Shadow-Cursed Land that players must head to in Act 2 in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3). Learn how to get there through the Underdark or the Mountain Pass, the pros and cons of each path, and the quests and steps required to get there!

How to Get to Last Light Inn

All Available Path
1
2

There are two ways to get to Last Light Inn, through the Underdark or Mountain Pass. Both paths will eventually lead you to the Shadow-Cursed Land, but will yield different results on your journey, like the number of quests, rewards, and enemies you can encounter.

But overall, it's easier to reach the Shadow-Cursed Land through the Mountain Pass, as you will encounter less enemies there. However, you won't be able to progress on Shadowheart's questline if you go there, as the path focuses on Lae'zel's questline.

Note that passing through the Shadow-Cursed Land will lead to the quests in Act 1 to conclude.

Reach the Underdark

Baldur
There are multiple ways to get to the Underdark. You can get there through the Overgrown Tunnel under Auntie Ethel's House, Whispering Depths under Blighted Village, Defiled Temple in Goblin Camp, or the elevator in Zhentarim Hideout.
How to Get to the Underdark

Go to the Beach or Decrepit Village

Once you reach the Underdark, head to the Decrepit Village or Beach in the central part of the map to get a boat. It will lead you to Grymforge and into the Shadow-Cursed Land.

Find the Missing Boots or Kill Gekh

Gekh will be waiting for you in the Decrepit Village. You can talk to him and gain his favor by retrieving the Missing Boots (Boots of Speed) taken by a girl Gnome. Or you can also kill them and steal the boat for yourself.
Defeat the Duergar Intruders: Guardian Gate Location

Travel to Grymforge

Baldur
Travel to Grymforge using the boat in Decrepit Village. A Duergar patrol boat will appear and question you about riding Gekh's boat. You can tell them the truth, deceive them, or force combat.

It's best to avoid fighting here, so you can get to Grymforge quickly. To prevent that from happening, choose the Perception Check option or tell them you have the Boots of Speed.

Dialogue Choices:

  • Say that you seek the seargent because of the boots - No Skill Check required. The patrol will escort you to Grymforge if you have the Boots of Speed.
  • Tell them Gehk died fighting the Myconids - This option requires passing a Deception Check (DC15). The patrol will attack you if you fail but escort you if you pass.
  • Push the Duergar into the water - Pass the Athletics Check (DC15) to push the Duergar speaking into the water. It will initiate combat no matter the result.

How to Get to the Grymforge

Use the Elevator

Travel to the eastern part of Grymforge, where you can see a group of people standing near the metal door to the elevator. Talk to them, and they will hint you about the curse in the Shadow-Cursed Land. Use the elevator and leave the Grymforge after that.

Note that using the elevator in Grymforge will end most of the quests in Act 1! Finish at least the Adamantine Forge questline before going in to get better gear as you enter the Act 2 of the game!

Go to the Shadow-Cursed Land

Use the stairs inside the temple-like building. You will see Elminster Aumar, an acquaintance of Gale. He will approach you about Gale, but you can say you don't know him and immediately head to the door leading to the Shadow-Cursed Land.

If you entertain him and say that you know Gale, he will go to your camp and talk to the both of you. You will get some progress on his quest for doing this.

Help the Humanoids and Follow them to Last Light Inn

Baldur
Follow the path until you reach a group of humanoids in the area. They will be ambushed by Shadows nearby, and you can help them out to gain their favor. Make sure to bring a light source to avoid the curse, like using a Torch, Dancing Lights, or Produce Flame! You can also bring Shadowheart, as she can learn Produce Flame and she's immune to weaker Shadow Curses.

Baldur
After defeating all the Shadow enemies, follow the humanoids to Last Light Inn. You can also go alone by following the quest marker on the screen, southwest of your location.

You won't be able to get inside immediately as Jaheira won't trust you yet because of the thing inside your head. Speak with her and persuade her to let you in through Shadowheart's religion option.

Pass through the Githyanki Patrol or Goblin Camp

You can reach Last Light Inn through the Mountain Pass. You can use the path near The Risen Road, where the Githyanki Warriors are patrolling, or the small Goblin Camp, slightly southwest of Blighted Village.

Go to Trielta Crags and Head Northwest

Baldur
Both routes, through the patrol or Goblin Camp, will take you near the Trielta Crags waypoint. Activate the waypoint and travel northwest until you reach the entrance to the Shadow-Cursed Land.

Several level 6 undead enemies are waiting at the fork on the way to the entrance. Fight them or use Invisibility on one of your characters and run past them to avoid combat. If you can't avoid combat, it's best if you have a Cleric (like Shadowheart) as they can learn Smite and Turn Undead, which are effective against undead-type creatures.

You only need one character to get into the Shadow-Cursed Land, and it will automatically teleport everyone inside.

Travel Northwest Until You Reach Shadowed Battlefield

Baldur
Go west, then head north once you reach a small camp and a bridge. Make sure to bring at least one Torch for your team before leaving to protect your team from the curse!

You'll eventually trigger a cutscene once you reach the Shadowed Battlefield, involving Kar'niss and other humanoids. You can choose any option when that happens, but it's best not to attack them if you only want to get to Last Light Inn.

Continue Traveling Northwest Until You Reach Last Light Inn

Baldur
Travel north and unlock the Shadowed Battlefield waypoint after the cutscene. You can use it later once you take on quests in the Shadow-Cursed Land.

Go northwest from the waypoint until you reach the Last Light Inn. You will know if it's the Last Light Inn if you see a barrier surrounding an area. Go inside and talk your way in through Skill Checks. It's best to avoid combat here, as there will be a lot of quests you will miss if you kill everyone!
