The Archfey is a Subclass of the Warlock that is focused on survivability. It relies on inflicting status effects that prevents enemies from inflicting harm to the caster which make it an elusive and a hard to kill class. Some status effects that the class can use are charm and frighten which prevents the afflicted unit from attacking the caster or moving and having disadvantage on attack and ability rolls respectively.

The Archfey can also grant the Warlock invisibility through Misty Escape and Beguiling Defense to prevent enemies from charming the Warlock which are both amazing survivability features.

How to Unlock the Archfey Subclass

Available When Creating a Warlock

The Archfey subclass will become available once you start creating a Warlock at the Character Creation screen. Unlike most classes, Warlocks are one of the few that get to pick out their subclass before they start the game.

Expanded Spell List

After switching to The Archfey Subclass, the Warlock gains access to new spells. Below are some of the following spells the Warlock can learn from The Archfey Subclass.

Level 1 Spells

Spell	Description	School
Sleep	Put creatures into a magical slumber. Select targets up to a combined 24 hit points.	Enchantment
Faerie Fire	All targets within the light turn visible, and Attack Rolls against them have Advantage.	Evocation

Level 3 Spells

Spell	Description	School
Phantasmal Force	Deal damage to a creature each turn. The type of damage changes to the last type the creature suffered.	Illusion
Calm Emotions	Humanoids can't be Charmed, Frightened, or become enraged	Enchantment

Fey Presence

Fey Presence is a Class Action that allows the Warlock to Charm or Frighten nearby enemies. This is a great action to use if you are in danger from enemies that are in melee or near melee range of the Warlock. Frighten is a status effect that renders the target unable to move and roll a disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while Charm prevents that unit from attacking the caster.

These are both defensive tools and will rarely find an offensive case to use due to Fey Presence's short range.

Misty Escape

Misty Escape is another escape tool of The Archfey. The Archfey turns to a cloud of Mist before turning Invisible. Invisible prevents enemies from attacking you unless a way to reveal invisible units are used against you or if the target has a unique feature to see invisible units such as Volo's Eye.

Beguiling Defenses

Beguiling Defense is a simple class feature but effective nonetheless. It prevents the Warlock from being charmed from any sources at all. This is a complete immunity to one status effect and can be the difference between a victory and defeat.
