Pick it Up After Getting the Orphic Hammer

Baldurs Gate 3 - Take the Gauntlets

If you're in the House of Hope to steal the Orphic Hammer, you can just straight up steal both the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength and the Amulet of Greater Health since Raphael will be alerted either way. No consequences for stealing them aside from the fact that the only exit in the House of Hope will be locked behind a difficult boss fight.

How to Get the Orphic Hammer

Disarm the Trap and Obscure Enemy Vision to Stealth Steal the Gauntlets

If you want to escape the House of Hope without the Orphic Hammer, then you can instead opt to stealthily steal the gauntlets before leaving. To do this, you will need to pass a DC15 Perception Check to detect the pressure plate underneath the gauntlets and then pass a DC20 Sleight of Hand Check to disarm the trap.

Once the trap is disarmed, cast Darkness, Fog Cloud, or even Wall of Stone to block the vision of the Archivist and his guards. This will allow you to steal the gauntlets without being stopped.
