Lorelei specializes in Ice-type Pokemon and Water-type Pokemon. Ice has amazing offensive moves like Ice Beam at the cost of some of the Pokemon with the typing being frail against other common types such as Steel and Electric. This weakness will be your ace-in-the-hole against Lorelei's Pokemon, so exploit it!
Despite being an Ice-type Specialist, most of her Pokemon are also Water-types, which increases the potential of using Electric and Steel-types against her, but this dual specialty also allows her to have an advantage against Grass-types and Fire-types.

Lorelei's Pokemon share defensive abilities that allow them to withstand attacks or certain elements of attacks. Thick Fat for example, allows Dewgong to resist Fire-type and Ice-type moves more, while Cloyster and Lapras' Shell Armor allows it to withstand critical hits.
Aside from this, she has two Psychic-type Pokemon that have specific setups, such as Slowpoke's Sleep and Surf, as well as Jynx's Attract-setup moves.

Lorelei's Pokemon is mostly weak against Electric-type and Steel-type Pokemon. Raichu is one of your best bets against Lorelei, as it can spam moves like Thunder and take out most of Lorelei's Pokemon in one sweep.
Magneton also shines well in this fight, since it's both Electric and Steel, which resists most of the attacks from Lorelei's Pokemon. It has high SP. ATK, which makes Thunderbolt even more powerful. You can get this move's TM by purchasing it at Celadon Game Corner.

If you are able to level your Pokemon to Level 65 or higher, we advise doing so, as you will have the stat advantage that can easily sweep Lorelei and even most of the Elite Four with minimal effort. This may take some time, but will be worth it especially in later battles.
EXP Farming Guide: How to Level Up Fast
| Pokemon | Recommended Moves |
|---|---|
Raichu
|
・Learns reliable Electric moves such as Thunderbolt and has Same-Type Attack Bonus (STAB) on Electric-type moves. ・Only needs Thunderstone to evolve from Pikachu. |
Magneton
|
・High Sp. ATK, and since Electric attacks are Special type attacks in Generation III, this makes Magneton's Electric moves even stronger. ・High resistance to most of Lorelei's Pokemon attacks. |
※ Move recommendations for solo experience only and may not be reflective of the Pokemon's use in competitive play.
You can bring a full party of six Pokemon into the Elite Four battle, but the team shown here focuses on the best counters for Lorelei’s line-up.
The remaining slots can be filled with any other strong Pokemon you’ve trained including your starter, but these are some of our recommended picks that will make the fight more manageable.
Venusaur
|
Magneton
Raichu
|
Venusaur can have a hard time against Lorelei's Pokemon because even if some of them are Water-type, they also have Ice-type moves which are super effective against it. It's recommended to get Electric Pokemon like Magneton or Raichu who can use strong Electric attacks to knock Lorelei's Pokemon out swiftly, and just have Venusaur as a backup.

Charizard
|
Magneton
Raichu
|
Charizard is a double-edged sword against Lorelei's Pokemon since it can wreck Ice-types with Flamethrower, but is weak against Water-type moves. Pair Charizard up with a Magneton or Raichu to have an easier time with the battle against Lorelei.
Charmander Location, Evolution, and Stats
Blastoise
|
Magneton
Raichu
|
Blastoise can actually work against Lorelei's Pokemon with the use of Physical moves. It's also resistant to both Water and Ice attacks, and has high defenses. Add in a Magneton or Raichu to easily take out Lorelei's Pokemon with a strong Electric-type move.
