Completing the Pokedex rewards players with items and collectibles that are helpful in leveling up your team, as well as story progression.
Do note that the National Dex cannot be completed in current version of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, as this requires trading Pokemon with Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald versions, as well as the GameCube games, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and Pokemon Colosseum, to complete.
Can You Complete the National Dex?

There are 151 Pokemon in the Kanto Pokedex, but only 150 can be caught, as Pokemon #151, Mew, was an event-exclusive Pokemon in Emerald that is no longer available.
Can You Complete the Kanto Dex?

Unlike the original versions, players can catch more than 150 Pokemon in the post-game. Accessing the Sevii Islands unlocks the National Dex, allowing players to catch Pokemon beyond the Gen 1 lineup.
