Mt. Moon Route 4
Route 24 Route 25
Cerulean City Gym -

Mt. Moon

1
Traverse Route 3 after exiting Pewter City to continue your journey. You will only head rightwards from here so keep on battling Trainers on the Route to level up or capture more Pokemon for your Pokedex.

The terminus of this road leads into a mountain cave known as Mt. Moon, and is found near a Pokemon Center.
Kanto Pokedex Guide
2
Enter Mt. Moon and head to the right. Follow the path and you'll come across ladders you can use to go into other areas and fight trainers and Team Rocket Grunts. We advise exploring these floors if you can to gain more Pokemon EXP and get important items.

Whenever going in caves, if you are finished with capturing most Pokemon in the area, we advise using Repel to avoid Pokemon encounters, making exploration less of a hassle.
3
At the very end of the path, you'll see another ladder going down. Take it and it'll bring you to another section of the cave. Follow the path and you'll reach the area where the Pokemon Fossils are located.
4
Fight Super Nerd Miguel to get one of the fossils. You'll get to pick between the Dome Fossil (Kabuto) or Helix Fossil (Omanyte).

The other fossil will be collected by the Super Nerd, meaning you will lose access to the other Fossil for this playthrough. Keep this Fossil as you will revive them later in the game.
Fossil Pokemon and How to Get Them
5
Continue down the path and you'll find a ladder you can climb to exit Mt. Moon and head into Route 4.

Route 4

1
From the exit of Mt. Moon, head to the right and you'll see trainers who can teach your Pokemon Mega Punch as well as find TM05 Roar here.

Mega Punch is a Normal-type Contact attack with 85% Accuracy and 80 Damage, and can be used by Pokemon such as Hitmonchan.
2
Go down the ledges and follow the yellow path to the right. This will lead you to Cerulean City.

Route 24

1
Head north from Cerulean City to go to Route 24. Just before you step onto the bridge, you will face your rival. You'll also receive the Fame Checker from your rival after the fight.
Fame Checker Guide
2
We advise exploring the rest of Cerulean City first to get an idea on certain points of interest in the city, such as the Bike Corner and get information from certain NPCs such as the Berry Jar guy, who gives you a Powder Jar for Berry Powder.
3
Proceed to the bridge after battling your Rival then battle the others trainers on the bridge to proceed. Prepare and heal up with Potions or the Pokemon Center nearby if you haven't yet.
4
Once you pass through the bridge, head east to get to Route 25. Make sure to bring some Potions with you as this route will be filled with Trainers of different kinds and return to the nearest Pokemon Center if you feel the need to.

Route 25

1
In Route 25, head east and face the trainers you come across for more EXP. Keep heading east until you see a house.
2
Head inside the house and talk to Bill, the creator of the Pokemon PC System, by returning him to his human form with the Pokemon Machine he was using. He will give you the S.S. Ticket to board the S.S. Anne later.
3
You can then prepare by training on Route 25 and exploring it for more items, or immediately head back to Cerulean City to challenge its' Gym Leader.

Cerulean City Gym

1
Enter the gym and fight the other Trainers inside. The fight against the first Trainer is optional but its recommended to fight them to get more EXP for your Pokemon.

Follow the pool path to get through the area, to avoid falling freely on the pool, forcing you to go to the start and walk again.
2
At the very end of the gym, you'll face Cerulean City's Gym Leader, Misty. She has a Staryu and a Starmie, with levels ranging from Lvl. 18-21. Use Grass-type or Electric-type Pokemon for this fight.

3
Beating Misty gives you the Cascade Badge and also allows you to use the HM01 Cut outside of battle.
