After completing the post-game puzzle on Birth Island, the Base Form of Deoxys appears and can be battled. However, the Pokemon you actually catch will be version-specific, with the Attack Form being exclusive to FireRed and the Defense Form exclusive to LeafGreen.
The Base Form itself cannot be obtained in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, even via trading, as it is locked to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.

![]() From the center, move left exactly 5 times so the triangle is just above you, then press A to touch it. Press Down once to slightly adjust your position, then press A again to confirm. |

This puzzle on Birth Island is a post-game challenge, accessible only after you’ve cleared the Pokemon League and obtained the Aurora Ticket.
The black triangle in the center moves each time you interact with it, and you must follow the exact sequence of steps to touch it at every position. Any mistake will reset the triangle to its starting point, so careful attention and precision are required.
Post Game Guide
Once caught, Deoxys remains in its version-specific form. There’s no in-game way to switch between Attack, Defense, or Base Form, so each save file will only ever have the form tied to that version.

Deoxys has multiple distinct forms, but in FireRed and LeafGreen, its form is tied to the version you play. In Pokemon FireRed, Deoxys appears in its Attack Form, while in Pokemon LeafGreen it appears in its Defense Form.
