The Running Shoes can be obtained from one of Professor Oak's Aides at Pewter City after defeating Brock. Learn how to get the Running Shoes and how to use them here!

How to Get the Running Shoes

Obtained at Pewter City After Beating Brock

After obtaining the Boulder Badge, head east towards Route 3 and one of Professor Oak's Aides will be in the same spot where the Youngster stops you from progressing.

After talking to this aide, he will automatically give you the Running Shoes.

How to Use the Running Shoes

Hold the B Button and Use the D-Pad to Move

After getting the Running Shoes, you can use them by holding the B-Button and using the D-Pad to move towards the direction you wish to move to.

There is No Way to Run Automatically

You cannot use the Running Shoes unless you Hold the B-Button. There is no setting you can toggle to automatically run in-game unlike future titles.

You Cannot Run inside Certain Buildings

Locations Where You Cannot Run
・Pokemon Center
・PokeMart and Celadon Mall
・Gyms
・Indigo Plateau Building
・Houses
・Game Corner
・Sylph Co. Building
・Cycling Road

Certain buildings like the Pokemon Center and PokeMart won't allow you to run inside even if you are holding the B-Button.
