Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen (FRLG)

Can You Get Mew?

Add to Watchlist

Pokemon FRLG - Can You Get Mew?

Mew currently cannot be acquired in either Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen (FRLG). See more details about if you can get Mew in this guide.

Can You Get Mew?

Mew is Currently Unobtainable

As of writing, Mew is currently unobtainable in either FireRed or LeafGreen. In the original Game Boy Advance release, Mew was exclusive to event releases, and was only acquired through that manner.

With the Switch port for FireRed and LeafGreen, no such events have been released alongside the port. As such, Mew remains impossible to obtain in-game.

Do You Need Mew to Complete the Pokedex?

No, Only the First 150 Pokemon are Required

Mew is not required to complete the Pokedex. You will only need to record Pokemon numbers #001 to #150 (Bulbasaur to Mewtwo) in order to complete the Kanto Pokedex and receive the certificate from the Game Freak employee in Celadon City.

To complete the Pokedex, you will need to trade Pokemon, evolve Pokemon via Evolution Items, and reach the post-game, aside from just catching them in the wild and evolving them via leveling up.
