To use Poke Balls, first you need to battle wild Pokemon. Weaken them by battling them and get them to low HP before using a Poke Ball to increases your chances of catching them.
Pokemon with negative status effects like Sleep or Paralyze are much easier to catch using Poke Balls, so try inflicting status ailments on the wild Pokemon first before throwing your Poke Balls.
Poke Balls are your main tools in catching and storing Pokemon. They're mainly used to catch wild Pokemon, and can come in different varieties with specific purposes.
