Best Natures for Physical Attackers

Best Natures To Get
Adamant + Attack - Sp. Attack
Jolly + Speed - Sp. Attack
Other Alternative Options
Lonely + Attack - Defense
Naughty + Attack - Sp. Defense
Hasty + Speed - Defense
Naive + Speed - Sp. Defense

Physical Attackers primarily want to increase their Attack or Speed stats while sacrificing other stats. Ideally, you'd want to sacrifice Sp. Atk the most, since you'll be focusing on its Physical Attacks to deal damage.

In certain cases where Pokemon have a mix of both Physical and Special Attacks in their moves, you can instead opt to go for more Attack while losing out on some tankiness through less Defense or Special Defense.

Timid + Speed - Attack
Other Alternative Options
Mild + Sp. Attack - Defense
Rash + Sp. Attack - Sp. Defense
Hasty + Speed - Defense
Naive + Speed - Sp. Defense

Special Attackers want to gain more Sp. Atk. or Spd. while losing out on other stats. The best stat to trade off is Atk., as they aren't meant to deal Physical Attacks. Speed is also quite important for these Pokemon, as you want them to attack first to nuke enemies before they can get a turn.

For some Pokemon, hybrid Pokemon who have a good mix of both Special Attack and Physical Attack moves do exist. Players can instead trade for less resistances like Def. or Sp. Def in exchange for more Special Attack.

Careful + Sp. Defense - Sp. Attack
Best for Special Attacker Tanks
Bold + Defense - Attack
Calm + Sp. Defense - Attack
Other Alternative Options
Relaxed + Defense - Speed
Sassy + Sp. Defense - Speed

Pokemon who naturally have high HP and resistances are mainly used as tanks in the game. They can take a lot of hits while letting the party whittle down on enemies' HP bars. You want to get either more Def. or Sp. Def depending on which attack type you're trying to reduce impact on.

Additionally, the best stat to lose for this is their least-used attack type stat or Spd, as they're not intended to move first in a battle.

Nature Increased Stat Decreased Stat
Hardy + Attack - Attack
Docile + Defense - Defense
Bashful + Sp. Attack - Sp. Attack
Quirky + Sp. Def - Sp. Def
Serious + Speed - Speed

Some natures don't provide anything, as they both gain and lose from the same stat. If you don't want Nature to have any significant impact and instead want to go for just the standard base stats, these are the best natures to get.

Instead, you can focus on soft-resetting for better IVs and training Pokemon to gain EVs.

Check the Pokemon's Stats

Stat Distribution

Most Pokemon have specific stats that gain more points than their other stats. As you level up and eventually reach lvl. 100, you can see that a Pokemon has evidently higher points for one to three stats.

If a Pokemon has a high Atk, but has less Sp. Atk., it is considered a Physical Attacker. In the same manner, if a Pokemon has more Sp. Atk than Atk., it is considered a Special Attacker.

Some Pokemon are built as Tanks by having high HP, Def., and Sp. Def. These Pokemon can soak damage while not necessarily dealing much of their own.

Check the Learnset

Types Counted as Physical Attacks
Pokemon FRLG - Normal Pokemon FRLG - Fighting Pokemon FRLG - Bug
Pokemon FRLG - Ground Pokemon FRLG - Rock Pokemon FRLG - Steel
Pokemon FRLG - Flying Pokemon FRLG - Poison Pokemon FRLG - Ghost
Types Counted as Special Attacks
Pokemon FRLG - Fire Pokemon FRLG - Grass Pokemon FRLG - Water
Pokemon FRLG - Ice Pokemon FRLG - Electric Pokemon FRLG - Psychic
Pokemon FRLG - Dark Pokemon FRLG - Dragon

After checking a Pokemon's stats, look for its Learnset. In Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, Physical Attacks and Special Attacks are determined by the Move Type.

If the Pokemon's Learnset focuses on a certain move type or if it's oriented towards one attack type, then you should build it based on that type. Furthermore, if a Pokemon uses a same type move, it deals more damage, known as STAB.
