From Prof. Oak's Aide at Route 11 East Gate

You can get the Itemfinder key item by going to the east gate in Route 11. Enter the gate and walk up the stairs to the second floor. Talk to one of Prof. Oak's Aides at the left table to get the Itemfinder.

Needs 30 Pokedex Entries Before Obtaining

Prof. Oak's Aide is supposed to give you the Itemfinder as a reward for having 30 Pokedex entries. So, if you have less than 30 entries, you won't get the key item. You can go back out to Route 11 and capture more Pokemon to add to your Pokedex entries.

How to Use Itemfinder

Use from Key Items Pocket in Bag

Similar to other Key Items in the game, you can use the Itemfinder by finding the item in the Key Items pocket in your Bag. Then, pick the Itemfinder and select Use to start finding nearby items. You can also Register the item to the Select button for quicker access to the item.

How to Use Key Items

Follow the Signal to Find Hidden Items

If a hidden item is nearby, using the Itemfinder will emit a signal. The signal will show the direction where the item is, but can't detect the exact location of the hidden item. Follow the signal's direction and trust your intuition to locate the hidden item.
