| Cycling Road & Celadon City |
Saffron City |
| Silph Co. | Saffron City Gym |
| 1 | ![]() After defeating Koga, go west of Fuchsia City and climb up the cycling road. A bike is required to traverse this seaside road, and it is chock full of Trainers to take on for EXP. Do note that this road goes downhill if you face southwards, so you will be going fast. Press B to brake your bike and stop moving fast. ▶ How to Get a Bike |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() Continue heading north until you reach the west access gate of Celadon City from Route 16. Alternatively, you can go to the second floor of the west access gate of Celadon City and talk to Oak's Aide for an Amulet Coin, as long as you have 40 recorded Pokemon in your Pokedex. |
| 3 | ![]() After exiting said access gate, look for a small tree that can be cut down a few meters to the right that allows access to a fenced area. Go inside, and head west until you see a path north of the gate you just exited from. On the left side of the gate is a lone house that shelters a girl who will give you HM02 Fly. ▶ How to Get HM02 Fly |
| 4 | ![]() From here, go back to where you came from and enter Celadon City. Go to the Celadon Mansions, a few buildings to the left of the Pokemon Center. Talk to the old woman on the first floor surrounded by a Pokemon, and get a Tea Key Item. You will use the Tea to get access to Saffron City from any of the gates from the north, south, east, or west. It does not matter which guard you give the Tea to, as it will unlock all the gates at the same time. This time, use it on the gate in Route 7, the west gate of Saffron. ▶ Celadon City Guide |
| 1 | ![]() If you're following our guide, you will be able to first go into Saffron City from the west gate in Route 7. From here, try to explore Saffron City, and you'll be surprised that the city is taken over by Team Rocket. From here, you won't be able to access the gym, but you can try to take on the Fighting Dojo next to it. Completing the challenge lets you choose between Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan. ▶ Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan? |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() Your only option here is to enter Silph Co. and try to stop the Team Rocket takeover! Silph Co. is the towering building at the center of Saffron City, northeast of the Pokemon Center. ▶ Saffron City Guide |
| 1 | ![]() There are a total of 11 Floors in the building, with most of the floors taken over by Team Rocket. You can go and check out each floor for items and battle Grunts for EXP, but if you want to fast-track everything go to the 5th Floor (5F). |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() From the elevator, head West, then South until you see a warp tile next to a Team Rocket Grunt. Step on it to be sent to the 9th Floor, and then reuse the warp tile to be sent back to the 5th floor. From here, head East to get the Card Key, found in a small horizontal corridor on the southern part of 5F. With this, you will be able to open any closed gate in Silph Co. Building so you can optionally explore each floor and open all the gates to get additional loot. |
| 3 | ![]() Use and reuse the warp tile from earlier and go back to the elevator. Go down to 3F and go to the room directly to the left of the Team Rocket Grunt. Unlock the room and use the warp tile to teleport to 7F. |
| 4 | ![]() Your Rival will be waiting for you in the room on 7F. Defeat him, then talk to the other person in this room to receive a Lapras. We advise keeping this Lapras in your team and investing in it, as it is one of the best Water-types in Generation III and you won't encounter it until you reach Icefall Cave in Sevii Islands. ▶ Lapras Locations |
| 5 | ![]() Use the other warp tile after defeating your Rival to reach the 11th Floor. Then, head South and East to find a room with Giovanni in it. Defeat him to clear the building. Talk to the presi Giovanni fights with mainly Ground types, with their levels at 35-41. Some of his Pokemon can inflict Poison, so keep some Antidotes ready. |
| 6 | ![]() Talk to the President of Silph Co., sitting on the sofa, to receive a Master Ball. You may then continue exploring, or exit the building and go to the Saffron City Gym. |
| 1 | ![]() With Giovanni defeated and Team Rocket driven out of Saffron City, you can now explore the city as certain NPCs only appear after the takeover. You can go to the Dojo Club on the right to have some battles before heading to the Gym, checkin both the Pokemon Center or Mart, visit the Pokemon Fan Center on the right side of the city or visit the Psychic House to the south to get the self-named TM move. ▶ Saffron City Guide |
2 | ![]() Once done with exploration, you can challenge the Saffron City Gym found northeast of the Silph Co. Building. It is a Psychic type gym, so Ghost and Dark type Pokemon will make this gym a walk in the park. |
|---|---|
| 2 | ![]() The Gym uses warp tiles similar to those in the Silph Co. building, and you'll have to get to Sabrina. There are going to be Trainers in each room that you can optionally fight, but you can also avoid them completely by not walking through their line of sight. To quickly get to Sabrina, use the following tiles in order: East → Northeast → Northwest → Southwest → Southwest |
| 3 | ![]() Take on the gym leader Sabrina to claim the Marsh Badge, as well as TM04: Calm Mind. Her team consists of Level 37-38 Psychic-types, with her ace being a higher-level Alakazam. Be wary of her using stat-boosting moves like Calm Mind, as these can make her Pokemon forces to be reckoned with. ▶ Saffron City Gym and Sabrina Guide |
