Pokemon FRLG - How to Use Repel

Repel is an item that can be used to avoid wild Pokemon encounters in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen (FRLG). See how to use Repel and where you can get it in this guide!

How to Use Repel

Select Repel From the Bag

How to Use Repel

To use Repel, open the Menu and select the Bag option. Head to the Items tab and look for a Repel item to use. After selecting it, just choose the Use option to immediately get its effects.

How to Open the Main Menu

Avoid Battling Wild Pokemon

Exploring Mt Moon

While Repel's effects are active, wild Pokemon that are at a lower level than the first (or leftmost) Pokemon in your party cannot engage you in battle. This is especially useful when you want to explore deep areas more freely and have less wild Pokemon encounters!

Stronger Versions Last Longer

All Repel Durations in Steps
Repel
100 Steps
Super Repel
200 Steps
Max Repel
250 Steps

The duration of Repel's effects is measured by a certain amount of steps taken while walking, so it's important to plan your route before using Repel.

There are also stronger variants of Repel that have longer durations. Although Max Repel can last for more steps, Super Repel gives more value for its cost.
