STAB or Same-Type Attack Bonus boosts the damage of a Pokemon's move if used by the same type in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen (FRLG). Learn more about what STAB moves are and how to use them effectively here!
List of Contents

STAB, short for Same-Type Attack Bonus, is a damage boost on moves used by Pokemon of the same type. The move will deal 1.5x the normal damage of the move.

Have your Pokemon learn at least 1 move of the same type to utilize the STAB damage. Dual-type Pokemon will get STAB on both move types.
For example, Gengar is both Ghost/Poison-type. It will benefit from STAB on offensive Ghost-type moves and Poison-type moves.
Certain moves deal a fixed amount of damage. These moves don't get the damage boost from STAB, regardless of typing. It is best to refrain from using these moves for STAB.
