Not as Good as Wasteland Whisperer or Intimidation

Animal Friend is not as good as Wasteland Whisperer or Intimidation as the animals are much weaker than Wasteland Creatures and Humans. You can still consider getting this perk if you want to control almost every creature in the game.

Rank Required Lvl. Description
Rank 1 - With your gun, aim at any animal below your level and gain a chance to pacify it.
Rank 2 12 When you successfully pacify an animal, you can incite it to attack.
Rank 3 28 When you successfully pacify an animal, you can give it specific commands.

How to Get Animal Friend

Unlock Animal Friend at Charisma 5

Fallout 4 Animal Friend Perk
Animal Friend is on Charisma Level 5

The Animal Friend perk is unlocked when your Charisma is at Level 5. You can start at this level by assigning 5 points to Charisma during the Registration Form at the start of the game. Otherwise, you can get to this level by collecting SPECIAL magazines or bobbleheads and spending perk points upon level up.

After getting to Charisma 5, you're free to spend perk points on ranking up the skill, as long as you are at the required character level to rank up.
