How to Start Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned
Own Story Pack 1
To start the new Story Mission players must first own the Story Pack 1, either by owning the Super Deluxe Edition, or Vault Hunter Pack.
Edition Differences and Super Deluxe Edition Content
Complete A Lot to Process
Players can start exploring the new area and complete the new Story missions after completing A Lot to Process.
Alternatively, Players can also choose to create a new character that begins at Level 13, with the story progression starting directly at the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned content.
Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned New Character
C4SH the Rogue
C4SH the Rogue is the first DLC character that arrives alongside the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.
Players who own the Story Pack 1 can play as C4SH, making use of his abilities in Gambling and Gunslinging!

Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned New Area
The Whispering Glacier
The Whispering Glacier is a brand new area added as part of the Story Pack 1.
The entirety of Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned will take place in the Whispering Glacier, but it also introduces new enemies, activities, and collectibles!
Dahl Caches
Dahl's Caches can be found across The Whispering Glacier, rewarding players with Loot after finding and opening these Caches!
Eldritch Phonographs
Fractured record pieces can be found on the Whispering Glacier, which can be played on the Eldritch Phonograph.
Eldritch Phonograph seems to be the Whispering Glacier equivalent of Echo Logs, allowing players to gain additional story context from collectibles!
Vault of the Damned Symbols
Instead of Vault Symbols, The Whispering Glacier features new Vault of the Damned Symbols, which can be found as a new collectible!
Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned Bosses
Whispering Glacier Story Bosses
Whispering Glacier also introduces new bosses that you can find during the story, and throughout the Overworld.

Ice Fishing
Toss Dynamite into these glowing spots in the water to take part in the newly added Ice Fishing to obtain more loot!
Nightmare Rift
Test your Luck and strength by fighting against random bosses in this Arena-type challenge!
New Cosmetics
31 New Cosmetic Items can also be obtained as part of the new update.
Additionally, more Cosmetic Items can be obtained from the Vault X Hunter Vault Card.
Story Pack 1 Free Content
Level Cap Increase and Shared Character Progression
As part of the Story Pack 1 update, players who do not own any of the DLCs still get to enjoy new Quality of Life features.
All players now get to enjoy 10 Additional Levels for all their characters, as well as Shared Character Progression, allowing you to seamlessly change between characters without having to worry about getting Collectibles or Unlocking the Map!

Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned is a part of Story Pack 1, which released on March 26, 2025 at 1 PM PDT. This should be permanently available, but requiring players to own the Super Deluxe Edition, Vault Hunter Pack, or the Story Pack 1 DLC.
