This is a walkthrough for the Vend of the Line side mission in Borderlands 4. Read on to follow the objectives and clear the mission, as well as how to get the Legendary weapon reward.

How to Unlock Vend of the Line
Complete Siege and Destroy
You need to complete the Siege and Destroy main mission first before unlocking Vend of the Line.
Once unlocked, you can start the side mission by talking to Penelope Streams in the center of Carcadia, southeast of the Ruined Sumplands. Penelope Streams will be talking to another NPC near the vending machine. Note that this side mission is not repeatable.

Inspect Machine

| 1 | Once you've accepted the mission, wait for Penelope Streams' conversation with the Vault Gatherer Scout to finish, then talk to him afterward. |
| 2 |  Inspect the back of the nearby vending machine to see two green dollar signs and two blue dollar signs. Interact with the vending machine and sell the following in order: ・Green Item ・Green Item ・Blue Item ・Blue Item Doing so will give you the first number of the coordinates to the Legendary Vending Machine. |
| 3 | Three new vending machine clues will then be marked on the map: in Ruined Sumplands, Grindstone of the Worthy, and Lopside. You can complete them in any order. |
How to Solve First Vending Machine Puzzle

| 1 |  For the first vending machine clue, head to the small island southwest of Carcadia. Be careful, as there are enemies in the area! |
| 2 |  Once it's clear, climb up the building on the left side using your grappling hook. The vending machine will be next to the shack. |
| 3 |  Climb to the front of the building and interact with the switch to turn on the vending machine. |
| 4 |  From the top, inspect the back of the machine through a hole to see the code. Then return to the front and interact with the machine. |
| 5 |  Sell the following in order first, and then buyback what you sold in the same order: ・Green Item ・Purple Item ・Blue Item ・Green Item Doing so will give you the next number of the coordinates. |
How to Solve Second Vending Machine Puzzle

| 1 |  For the second vending machine clue, head to Crumblehall in the northern part of Grindstone of the Worthy. Upon arriving, you'll see someone crushed under the vending machine. |
| 2 |  Follow the arrow on the back of the machine. This will lead you to the top of the building. You can get there by jumping from the shack on the second floor and climbing the ladder. Jump onto the cement and peep through the hole to see the code: two purple dollar signs and two orange dollar signs. |
| 3 | Luckily, you don't need to sell such items. Return to the crushed person, and he will input the code himself. You'll then receive the next number of the coordinates. |
How to Solve Third Vending Machine Puzzle

| 1 |  For the third and last vending machine clue, head to Embracer's Buff in the northern part of Lopside. Talk to the customer in front of the vending machine. |
| 2 | The vending machine will start to vent. Hit it with a melee attack. |
| 3 | You can then either melee the customer or hit the machine again. Both choice results in the same outcome. |
| 4 |  Enter the building from the left side and inspect the back of the machine to see the code. Then return to the front and sell the following in order: ・Green Item ・Purple Item ・Blue Item ・Purple Item Doing so will give you the last number of the coordinates. |
Find the Legendary Vending Machine

| 1 |  With the coordinates complete, head to The Dusty Dangler, located southeast of Grindstone of the Worthy. Clear the area of enemies. |
| 2 |  Inspect the back of the vending machine on the right side of the building to see the code. Then go to the front and sell the following in order: ・Green Item ・Blue Item ・Purple Item ・Orange Item |
| 3 |  Follow the powered line from the back of the vending machine and this will lead you to a cave underneath. |
| 4 |  Enter the cave and proceed downward until you reach the Legendary Vending Machine. |
| 5 |  The vending machine will then turn hostile and attack. Defeat it to continue. Be ready, as Vend Zane is a tough enemy! |
| 6 |  After defeating Vend Zane, you can now use the Legendary Vending Machine to purchase any Legendary weapon listed. If you're unsatisfied with the options, wait 30 minutes for the selection to refresh. Purchasing any item will complete the mission. Warning: If you're playing in co-op, only one player will be able to use the Legendary Vending Machine and purchase a Legendary weapon. The other player who did not receive a Legendary weapon will be locked out of the mission since Vend of the Line is non-repeatable. |
| * | Note that only purchasing a Legendary weapon will also lock you out of the All Things Vend Trophy/Achievement. To unlock it, you must perform the following in the vending machine in order: ・Look at the Wooden Board ・Use the Legendary Vending Machine ・Sell Green Item ・Sell Green Item ・Sell Green Item ・Buy Orange (Legendary) Item Looking at the wooden board is a required step in order to secure the achievement. Skipping this step results in a bug that will result in the picture not appearing. Vend of the Line Missable Trophy and Achievement
Sell Three Green Items First Before Buying Legendary Weapon
When you're able to use the Legendary Vending Machine at the end of the mission, be aware that this part includes a missable Trophy/Achievement. Simply purchasing a Legendary weapon will lock you out of All Things Vend.
In the same area, there is a wooden board on the ground with three green dollar signs and one orange dollar sign. This indicates that you must sell three green items first, then purchase a Legendary weapon.
If you did it correctly, you should receive a picture of Zane and Levaine that you must take. Fast travel to Moxxi's Bottoms Up and give the picture to Zane to unlock the All Things Vend Trophy and Achievement.
Looking at the Wooden Board is Required
Even if you already know the right items to sell and buy, looking at the wooden board is still required. Skipping this step may cause in a bug wherein the picutre will not appear.
Quit to Main Menu if the Picture Did Not Appear
If the picture did not appear even if the objective is requiring you to get it, quitting to the main menu and reloading the game can help. The picture above shows the spot where the picture will appear after reloading.

At the end of the mission, you can choose to purchase any Legendary weapon listed for $1. If you're unsatisfied with the options, wait 30 minutes for the selection to refresh. Completing the mission also rewards you with a large amount of EXP and Cash.
