There are 5 weapon rarities in Borderlands 4. Learn all the traits and differences between the weapon rarities in the game by continuing below!
List of Contents

Higher rarity weapons include Epic and Legendary weapons. Both weapon rarities are noticeably harder to find due to their unique passive effects and value.

Higher rarity weapons can have more passive effects due to having multiple manufacturer licenses. These effects may include unique alternate fire modes or legendary traits for legendary weapons.

While you may be tempted to use a high rarity weapon for the rest of your playthrough, weapon level affects your combat performance more than weapon rarity.

Common weapons are the easiest weapons to find in Borderlands 4. Due to this, weapons in the common rarity have the lowest stats when it comes to damage, value, and elemental affinity.

While a step above the common rarity, uncommon weapons still contain low weapon stats and are best sold unless you don't have better weapons.

Weapons under this category can be considered as mid-tier weapons with decent damage and elemental affinity. Additionally, these weapons can contain multiple manufacturer parts that can give it unique passive effects.
However, it is still recommended to sell these weapons and look for Epic rarity weapons instead.

Weapons in this category give good damage, elemental affinity, and value. Due to this, these weapons are harder to find but will greatly improve your combat ability. If possible, try to fill your loadout with purple rarity weapons and gear to make combat easier!

Weapons under the legendary rarity are the best weapons in the game as they can contain multiple manufacturer parts along with a specific legendary trait. This makes them extremely hard to find, often requiring the player to farm a boss to obtain one.

Golden Chests are viable sources to obtain legendary weapons. However, the rewards that await inside a Golden Chest will scale with your current level. Due to this, it is recommended to reach a high level first before using a Golden Key to unlock these chests.
While this weapon rarity is yet to be released for Borderlands 4, weapons with this rarity will be the best in the game as pearlescent rarity is a step above legendary.
