The best skills for the Amon Melee build enhance Onslaughter damage while keeping you consistently tanky with passives like Forged In Steel and Bloodlust for sustain.
It is also important to pick up gun damage boosts for when Onslaughter is on cooldown. Metal Urge is especially useful since dealing gun damage with it helps reduce your Action Skill cooldown.
In the Vengeance tree, invest in The Thrill early to passively restore health whenever your shield breaks, giving you much-needed survivability.

Start in the Calamity tree by stacking Melee DPS passives such as Discombobulate, Gut Punch, and Tritanium Knuckles to boost your critical damage output early on. Max out The Thrill in the Vengeance tree for extra health regeneration.
Next, invest in Forged In Steel to increase tankiness and Metal Urge to reduce skill cooldowns. Once you unlock the next branches, prioritize maxing out Bloodlust and Berserk to gain lifesteal and bonus damage.
With your core setup complete, return to the Calamity Tree to continue enhancing the melee boosting passives.

Pyroclast is the perfect choice for this build and can be unlocked as early as Level 6. Its Kill Skill extends the duration of Onslaughter by a large percentage. With enough chained kills, you can keep Onslaughter active through an entire fight. As a bonus, activating Onslaughter fully heals you and surrounds you with a fire-damaging aura.

Hoarcleave is an excellent tool for freezing elite enemies or bosses in place, giving you a clear window to unload damage. Its whip projectile requires careful aim since it has a long cooldown. When it lands, it delivers a strong and reliable burst of damage, especially against armored badasses.

The Hellwalker and Hot Slugger shotguns are excellent complements to Onslaughter and melee combat. Their high base damage makes them reliable tools for bursting down enemies at close range.
Best Manufacturer for Melee Amon: Jakobs
Jakob’s critical hits are highly effective, landing shots that burst well and richochet to other enemies. Their strong DPS makes Jakobs weapons good for taking down enemies resistant to fire damage, such as those with shields or armor.
Best Weapon Type for Melee Amon: Shotguns
The build works best with shotguns since you are going to be playing up close most often and can be a meaty source of burst damage in between shots or when Onslaughter is on cooldown.

How to Play the Amon Melee Build
Use Onslaughter to Wipe Out Mobs
With the Pyroclast Augment, Onslaughter will continously refill when you get kills. This is excellent when fighting through groups of enemies to still have your Action Skill up if you get to chain kills together.
Try to Freeze Bosses With the Cryo Forgeskill Augment
Against bosses and elite enemies, Hoarcleave is the perfect Forgeskill variant to use. It can freeze or slow targets in place, giving you the opening to unleash a barrage of melee punches.

This build centers on using Onslaughter’s punches with the Pyroclast Augment to keep the skill active for as long as possible. Chain eliminations together with both melee and firepower to wipe out mobs. You can stay in the heat of battle with Onslaughter's excellent Shield regeneration.
For backup, Jakobs Shotguns are excellent in close range, letting you deal with fire-resistant foes or finish off enemies when Onslaughter is on cooldown.
Best Amon Melee Build Playstyle
Up-Close Brawling to Clear Rooms
This Amon build is great for plowing through enemies with Onslaughter up close, with heavy investment in Amon's Melee damage in the Calamity tree. With the Action Skill up, you have extremely good Shield Regen as well as Bloodlust's Lifesteal when your shield breaks for great sustain.
Suffers At Long Ranges
This build specializes in the close range, but suffers against flying enemies and bosses. We recommend our Amon Farming Build if you want to take on bosses or drills that involve a lot of flying targets.
If you are facing difficulties in using this build for progression, you can try a more versatile leveling build. Our Amon Leveling Build is more tanky, has powerful Cryo AoE for mobs, and solid boss clearing.
