To increase the rank of your UVH level, you must complete wildcard missions with the difficulty set to your current UVH level. For example, the Rush The Gate wild card mission must be completed in UVH 1 difficulty to unlock UVH 2.
To unlock a wildcard mission, players must complete all available challenges at their current UVH level.
What is Ultimate Vault Hunter?
Wildcard Missions are Tougher Replay Missions
Wild card missions are esentially a replay of main and Vault missions with tougher enemies and better loot. Here, enemies will have different modifiers that will make the mission harder to complete.
Complete Challenges Before Unlocking a Wildcard Mission
In order to unlock the required wild card mission that will increase your UVH's level, you must first complete all available challenges at your current UVH level. These challenges will task you to defeat a specific boss within Kairos.
Unlocking UVH 5 is the exception to the rule as you can immediately choose any of the 4 wildcard missions after unlocking UVH 4.

View UVH Challenges in the Echo Menu
To open the Echo Menu, press the touchpad on PlayStation, the options on Xbox, or the Tab button on PC. Navigate to the Missions tab and select Challenges. Choose Ultimate Vault Hunter to see the challenges that must be completed in order to level up UVH.
