This is a walkthrough for the The Next Quest Thing mission in Borderlands 4. Read on to follow the objectives and clear the mission.

You must have completed the previous side mission Sage Against the Machine to start The Next Quest Thing.
Immediately after finishing Sage Against the Machine, talk to Wayward Soul at Brody Sattva's stand at Stoneblood Forest in the Terminus Range region.

| 1 | Talk to Wayward Soul at Brody Sattva's stand. |
| 2 | ![]() Teach Wayward Soul about balance. At first, the game will task you with sending Wayward Soul to the platform on the mountainside, but the objective will automatically fail as Wayward Soul is unable to. |
| 3 | ![]() Instead, find and put a trash can lid on Wayward Soul's head, followed by a trash can and a trash bag. |
| 4 | Go after Wayward Soul at the marked location on the map. |
| 5 | ![]() A little off to the side of the road by an arch, you will find Wayward Soul attacked by kratches. Save him by killing them. Then, talk to him. |
| 6 | Kill another wave of kratches, then talk to Wayward Soul again to encourage him. |
| 7 | ![]() Afterwards, Wayward Soul will run off again. Follow him to the marked location, at a ripper camp at Stoneblood Forest. Talk to him by the rocks. |
| 8 | Pick up the nearby rock and throw it at Wayward Soul. |
| 9 | Talk to Wayward Soul and pretend to be his negative self. While this happens, a non-hostile ripper will approach to talk to Wayward Soul. |
| 10 | Take Wayward Souls' material burdens. |
| 11 | ![]() Kill the rippers and Wayward Soul at the camp to end the mission. |
