Borderlands 4 - Can You Change Character
You can choose from different Vault Hunters at the start of Borderlands 4, each with their own unique abilities and playstyles. Read on to learn if you can change your character after beginning the game.

Can You Change Character?

Can Only Be Selected at the Start

Borderlands 4 Vault Hunters
The only time you can decide your Vault Hunter is at the very beginning of Borderlands 4. Each character has unique abilities and playstyles, so once you’ve chosen your Vault Hunter, you cannot switch to a different one mid-game.

Change Characters By Starting A New Game

New Character Game
Load Vault Hunter

If you want to try another character, you’ll need to create a new save file and start a new playthrough. You can do this by selecting Load a Vault Hunter on the main menu and choosing Create New.

The game supports multiple save slots, allowing you to switch between characters freely.
This way, you can explore different playstyles without giving up the progress you’ve already made on your original character.
