You can drop items in Borderlands 4 directly from your inventory, making it easy to free up space or share loot with other players in co-op. Read on to learn how to drop items on PC, Xbox, and PS5, as well as how to discard items all at once.
List of Contents
| How to Drop Items | |
|---|---|
| PS5 | Hover over the item you want to drop then press and hold |
| Xbox | Hover over the item you want to drop then press and hold |
| PC | Hover over the item you want to drop then press and hold |
Open your Inventory menu and go to the Equipment or Backpack tab. Highlight the item you want to drop and select the Drop option, depending on the platform you are on.
You will get a prompt of Item Dropped then see the item on the ground in front of your character.

Items can be dropped from your inventory so that other players in your party can pick them up. This makes it easy to share loot, weapons or gear with friends.

Dropped loot does not adjust to the player’s level. Stats, rarity, and level requirement stays the same as when it was first obtained.
If a lower level player picks up a higher leveled item, they will see a red level requirement prompt and won't be able to equip it until they meet the requirement.

To clear space in your inventory, you can mark unwanted gear as Junk. This helps keep your inventory organized and makes it easier to sell everything in one go later.

Once items are marked as Junk, head over to a Vending Machine and use the quick-sell option to instantly discard all junk items for cash. This is an efficient way to free up inventory space while also earning money.
