Eridium is used for Moxxi's Big Encore Machine, respeccing Specializations, and transferring Firmware in Borderlands 4. See how to use and farm Eridium in this guide!
List of Contents

Eridium can be used to pay the fee of the Weekly Moxxi's Big Encore Machine available in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. This machine unlocked after the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mission: Big Encore, and will let you fight harder versions of a boss for more drops than usual. This appears to cost 100 Eridium per run.

Eridium is used for endgame features such as respecs for Specializations which are unlocked at the end of the Campaign, and Firmware Transfer Machines unlocked after the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mission: Zane's Firmware.
Specialization respec costs 1,500 Eridium and is done at the same respec machines used for the base skill trees.
| Contracts | Challenges | Replayable Missions |

Contracts are a missions found on contract boards in Safehouses. Similar to side missions, they have set goals you must accomplish to earn rewards but are completely optional to the Campaign.
Along with other rewards, contracts will grant Eridium as a reward. They will be unlocked when you reach your first safehouse, the Abandoned Post at the Coastal Bonescape.

You can get a good amount of Eridium early game by completing Challenges. Most of them offer Eridium when you complete them, along with EXP and cash! To see the challenges you can complete, head to the Missions menu and select the Challenges tab.

Replayable Missions can also be a renewable source for farming Eridium when needed. Though not all missions will necessarily be short in this case, so you may be able to earn Eridium from doing Contracts or Bounties faster.
