| Pearlescent Rarity | A rarity above Legendary. Currently not in the game. |

Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode functions like a new game plus that features tougher enemies and better loot. To unlock this mode, you must complete all main missions and complete four additional missions. This mode also comes with 5 difficulty levels that can be changed anytime!
What is Ultimate Vault Hunter?

If you're looking to relive the story of Borderlands 4 without the increase in difficulty, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode can be turned off anytime by pausing the game and accessing the Session Settings menu.

Borderlands 4 features a "set bonus" system that can give minor or major bonuses by equipping the same set of Firmware. Set bonus traits will spawn for Repkits, Ordnance, Class Mods, Shields, and Enhancements. Weapons are excluded from having Firmware.

Specializations provide additional upgrades to the characters on your account. This can only be unlocked after completing all main missions and features its own sets of upgrades that can be increased to unlock more specialization skills.
| Types of Weekly Challenges | |
|---|---|
| Weekly Big Encore Boss | Features a tougher variant of an existing boss that offers more rewards than normal. The boss can be accessed through Moxxi's Big Encore Machine by spending Eridium. |
| Weekly Wildcard Mission | A weekly mission that guarantees a legendary drop once finished. The mission can be repeatedly done. |
| Maurice's Black Market Machine | A machine that can offer legendary loot obtainable by spending in-game cash. Its location is random and will swap each week. |
Weekly challenges keeps the gameplay fresh with new challenges and rewards every week. Make sure to check these challenges and see if a reward suits your build!

Upon accessing Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, a new contract called Vile Bounties will start appearing. These appear purple on the board and reward a lot more XP than usual, making them good for late-game leveling.

Invincible Bosses are upcoming enemies expected to release later on the year. These enemies will have an extreme amount of hp and will dish out lethal damage. These bosses can be a good way to test out the limits of your build and will net the best loot in the game if you manage to defeat them.
Pearlescent rarity is expected to release on Q1 of 2026. This rarity is higher than legendary tier and was previously present in Borderlands 1 and 2. In both games, this rarity had a 1-in-5000 (0.02%) drop rate, making it extremely difficult to obtain.

Borderlands 4 will contain free and paid content that will give players more reason to grind and play! New missions, areas, bosses, and many more can be expected as the game goes on.
