When your character reaches 0 HP, they will activate “Fight For Your Life!”. In this state, your character will only be able to crawl, unable to use abilities, and automatically lower their gun as they aim.
A red bar will appear that will empty over time or when your character takes damage. If you do not kill an enemy, take too much damage, or give up, the bar will be empty and your character will die.
If you kill an enemy before the red bar in your HUD runs out, you will achieve Second Wind. You character will be instantly revived with some health and a full shield. After getting up, use your Repkit to heal back to full health.

After dying, your character will respawn at the nearest checkpoint. They will lose around 10% of their money. Avoid dying often to save on cash.
If you die in a boss battle, your progress will be reset. In multiplayer, the boss will remain at the same health as long as there is still one alive player in the room.

The main way of reviving your character is by killing an enemy in “Fight For Your Life!”. You can still switch weapons and change modes in this mode. So, try to exploit a nearby enemy's weakness for an easy kill!

While a character is in “Fight For Your Life!”, party members can revive them by holding the Use button. After some time, they will be revived as if they achieved Second Wind. Multiple allies can help the same character to lower the time it takes to revive them.
