Weapons come in various rarities, with higher rarities being inherently stronger due to additional parts and passive effects. As a result, they are more difficult to obtain.
Legendary Weapons represent the highest rarity, and players can equip any number of them simultaneously without restriction.

Weapons have levels that determine their DPS. It's recommended to regularly switch to the highest-level weapons available to keep up with your Vault Hunter's level and that of your enemies.
Weapon levels also determine whether you can equip them. If a weapon’s level is higher than your character’s, you won’t be able to use it.

Better weapons are obtained by farming main mission bosses, as well as bosses found in the following locations:
You can repeatedly farm bosses by using Moxxi's Big Encore machine found at the entrance of each boss arena. You can refer to our Boss Loot Table if you're looking for a specific weapon.

Red chests found during exploration have a chance to contain high-rarity equipment. They’re usually locked and guarded by enemies, and can be unlocked by defeating them.

Higher difficulties, especially Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, offer better overall loot drops. If you feel you're overpowering enemies, you can always increase the difficulty for a greater challenge.
What is Ultimate Vault Hunter?
