There is no way to upgrade or enhance individual weapons in Borderlands 4. Loot levels are fixed based on your character's level when the weapon is obtained. There is no way to increase a weapon’s level later.
This keeps the game’s focus on farming and finding better gear instead of keeping the same weapon throughout your playthrough.

You can upgrade ammo capacity in the Storage Deck Upgrade screen, under the SDU tab. Use SDU tokens in order to upgrade the ammo capacity of the weapon.

The main way to get stronger is by farming bosses, looting chests, leveling your character and completing missions. Higher rarity and better drops will naturally replace weaker weapons and gear as you progress.

You can add skill points in Vault Hunter skill trees that improve weapon handling, damage, reload speed, and other combat bonuses. This offers a way to indirectly enhance how your weapons perform.
Tip: Getting stronger gear will always be better than skill based boosts in the long run.

Golden Keys allows you to open the Golden Chest for better weapons and gear. it’s best to save Golden Keys for the endgame to maximize their value for chest rewards scale to your character level at the time of opening.
You can get Golden Keys through SHiFT codes, which require linking your platform account to a SHiFT account to redeem.
