Borderlands 4 - The War on Mercenary Day Walkthrough

This is a walkthrough for The War on Mercenary Day mission in Borderlands 4. Read on to follow the objectives and clear the mission.

How to Unlock The War on Mercenary Day

Inspect the Gift in Major Hubs

Gift Locations

The Launchpad
The Fadefields
Carcadia
Carcadia Burn
Belton's Bore
Terminus Range
The Lockaway
Dominion

To start The War on Mercenary Day, inspect the gift located in any of the game's four major hubs. This will play a cutscene that, once finished, will officially start the quest. Although this quest can be started in any of the four major hubs, we highly recommend starting the quest in The Launchpad in the Fadefields, as the quest takes place in the area.

If you do not see the gift, you may need to progress the main story before the quest becomes acceptable.

Pick Up the Mercenary Day Gifts and Lights

# Walkthrough
1 Pick up the Mercenary Day gifts and lights. These can be found inside Slime's Five and Dime, which is the building that contains the Resistance Bunker's exit.
2 Exit Slime's Five and Dime and open your own gift.

Deliver the Mercenary Day Gifts

# Walkthrough
1 Follow the waypoint and deliver the first gift to the top of the building. You can reach the delivery area by gliding from the nearby ledge.
2 Follow the next waypoint and deliver the second gift to the isolated shack, on the side with a vent and refrigerator.
3 Follow the last waypoint until you arrive at a house by the road. Climb to the top to deliver the final gift.
4 After delivering the last gift, Rush will tell you to exit the area and watch from a distance. Jump down from the roof of the house onto the road below.
5 Look at the house you delivered gifts to until it explodes.

Fight Your Way Through the Ministry of Culture

Enter the Ministry of Culture

Head to the Synthetic Nave, north of Zadra's Backup Plan. Near the entrance is a sign that says Ministry of Culture. Interact with the sign to infiltrate the Ministry of Culture.

Destroy the First Propaganda Tower

# Walkthrough
1 Kill all of the Order troops in the area.
2 Once the area is clear of Order troops, climb the propaganda tower and destroy the two glowing orange parts.
3 Interact with the now-unlocked lever, which will reveal the antenna battery.
4 Jump down from the tower and destroy the now-exposed antenna battery.
5 Defeat all of the Order troops that arrive after destroying the propaganda tower.

Open the Locked Door

# Walkthrough
1 Interact with the nearby computer to hack the door open. Instead of opening, a second layer of locks will activate, and Order forces will arrive in the area. Defeat them all to continue.
2
After defeating the Order forces, grapple toward the generator on the left and short it using the Mercenary Day Lights.
3
Drop down and head toward the generator by the door. Short that one as well.
4 Jump off the railing to the right of the generator and glide toward the grapple point above you. Grapple to it and enter through the broken fan.
5 Climb through the vent and enter the room with the final generator. Short it to remove the final secondary lock.
6 Drop down the nearby hole and hack the door open. It will now open properly.

Destroy the Second Propaganda Tower

# Walkthrough
1 Defeat the Order forces behind the door. Once they are defeated, hack into the lights. This will also unlock the door to the next area.
2 Fight your way through the facility until you reach the observation deck. Defeat all the Order forces here and jump down through the broken window.
3 Defeat the Order forces in the area before climbing the propaganda tower and destroying the two glowing orange parts.
4 Flip the switch to expose the antenna's battery. Destroy it as well.

Hack Minister Screw's Computer

# Walkthrough
1 Make your way back to the Observation deck and remove the vent entrance. Climb through the vent until you arrive at the observation deck's upper area.
2 Jump across the gap until you reach the spinning fan. Destroy the glowing fuse beside it to stop the fan, allowing you to pass through safely.
3 Bypass the cooling system by shorting the three marked locations.
4 Grab the power cell in a nearby charger and plug it into the door controls. Defeat the strong Order enemy inside the room before hacking the cooling system.
5 Enter the server room and defeat all of the Order forces there. Once the coast is clear, hack into Minister Screw's computer and retrieve the picture of Rush and his dad.

Destroy the Third Propaganda Tower

# Walkthrough
1 Fight your way forward until you reach the locked exit door. Follow the orange power line that leads from the door to a nearby fuse. Destroy the fuse to open the locked door.
2 Exit the facility and defeat the flying enemies. Once the area is clear, go to the nearby ledge and glide toward the propaganda tower until you can grapple over.
3 As with the previous towers, you must destroy the glowing orange parts, flip the switch to expose the antenna battery, and destroy it.

Make Your Way to Landing Zone

# Walkthrough
1 Go through the nearby door and ride the elevator upward. This will lead to the landing zone, where Order forces will promptly arrive.
2 Defeat all of the Order forces and go inside the nearby building.
3 Sell all your junk and resupply at the nearby vending machines before sliding into the boss arena.

Defeat Minister Screw and Donk

Minister Screw and Donk

Upon entering the arena, a small cutscene will play, introducing Minister Screw. Once the cutscene finishes, the boss fight will begin. You will be fighting two bosses at the same time: Minister Screw and Donk. We highly recommend defeating Donk first, as he can deploy a shield dome that protects Minister Screw from damage (unless you are inside the dome).

Focus all of your fire on Donk first and, once they are defeated, turn your guns towards Minister Screw.

Give Rush His Dad's Picture

# Walkthrough
1 Enter Minister Screw's private bedroom and press the button. A short cutscene will play, showing the Ministry of Culture lighting up like a Christmas tree.
2 Once the cutscene finishes, place the picture of Rush and his dad on the table. Rush will look at the picture and reminisce about his dad. Once he finishes, the quest will end.
