You can acquire BD-1's Koboh Grinder Ability by naturally progressing through the game. It is unlocked during the Reach the Devastated Settlement objective in Koboh.
Koboh Part 2 Walkthrough

Solve the Devastated Settlement Second Puzzle

During your progression in the Reach the Devastated Settlement objective, you will be able to acquire an upgrade for BD-1 during the second laser puzzle.

After accessing the device near the area, you will gain access to BD-1's Koboh Grinder Ability.

How to Use Koboh Grinder Ability

Burn Away Koboh Matter

Jedi Survivor Koboh Grinder
After entering BD-1 Mode, simply aim the projection arc to where the Koboh Tuner Beam hits the surface and press the button that fires the Koboh matter.

Connect the Koboh Matter spraying out from BD-1 to any Koboh Matter-related obstacles in your path, and it will burn away.
