Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen will be released globally for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 after the Pokemon Presents showcase on February 27, 2026 at 6:00 AM PST. You can also pre-order the game now you can gain access to it as soon as it launches.

Version Exclusives and Differences

Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green
Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen have version exclusive Pokemon, meaning you cannot get Pokemon from the other game if you don't trade for it. Unless you have a preference, it's recommended to get LeafGreen so that you can get Starmie, who has strong offensive coverage.

Nintendo Switch
Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are only available on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Also, each version can be purchased in different languages, so make sure you don't buy the wrong one since you won't be able to change languages in-game.
