The Paintress Location
At the Top of the Monolith
The Paintress is located at the very top of the Monolith and serves as the final boss for Act 2. To reach her, you must traverse inside the Monolith and go through the nostalgic areas and enemies. She will be waiting for your team at the summit after the fight with Renoir.
How to Beat The Paintress
Shoot the Orbs of Light to Delayed the Curse
After dealing a certain amount of damage, The Paintress will use her Corrupted Chroma move, wherein she will apply Curse to all of your characters. To delay the effects of the Curse, shoot the orbs of light that will appear on top of her head. This will give your character 2 additional turns, allowing you to potentially end the fight.
Focus On Parrying to Deal Extra Damage
Aside from shooting the orbs of light, aim to parry all the attacks coming from The Paintress. Although you have delayed the inevitable, you still only have 4 turns to end the battle. With that, you would want to deal damage even outside your turn, which is done through successful parries.
Prepare All Five Members
As mentioned, The Paintress will inflict Curse on your team, which will inevitably kill all of them. One of the contingencies you can do for this is to prepare your second team to follow up and finish the fight if the first one failed to do so.
Although the Curse would still apply to them, at least you would have a couple more turns to defeat the boss. You can also equip the First Strike Lumina to make sure that your backup team attacks first upon entering the field.
Best Builds for All Characters
Assign a Support for Your Team
The Paintress battle would be tough, and although you want a offensive-focused team during the Curse phase, you would want a support or a DPS hybrid support member like Monoco or Lune to help you get there. Most of the Paintress' attacks are AoE so make sure to equip skills that would heal your entire party, like Pelerin Heal or Revitalization.
Other than heals, you can also equip skills that will give Powerful or Shell to your team to counter some of The Paintress' attacks that apply debuffs to damage and defense.
Upgrade Your Tints
If you really want a DPS-focused team, make sure to upgrade your tints at the very least. You can upgrade these items by increasing their numbers through the shards or by improving their effectiveness using different shapes found in the game.
Reserve AP for the Second Phase
A minor tip: towards the end of the first phase, make sure to not overspending your AP, as this will carry on to the second phase of the fight. The Priestess' HP will not go down below 10%, and she will always end the phase with her attacking, so make sure to use only what you need to have more options during the upcoming 2nd battle.

The Paintress summons 7 orbs of light on top of her, all of which will quickly descend randomly on your team. Getting hit twice will stun your character. |

| How to Counter | Press dodge or parry as soon as you see the leftmost orb shine. Simultaneously spam the dodge or parry button with short intervals until all 7 orbs have descended. |

|
The Paintress performs a powerful Gradient Attack, absorbing Chroma and swinging her hands down to shoot a pillar of light. |

| How to Counter | This move cannot be dodged and can only be countered using the Gradient Parry. Time the parry when The Paintress is about to swipe her hand down. |

|
The Paintress swings her palette 4 times to release waves of Chroma to your entire team. Getting hit applies Defenceless to your character. |

|
The Paintress summons 3 huge rocks that will home down on your entire team. |

| How to Counter | Watch as the rocks pull back before descending on your team. Match your dodge or parry after the rocks pull back. |

Chroma Blast
|
The Paintress summons a black orb that will pulse dense Chroma 5 times to your entire team. Getting hit applies Powerless to your characters. |

| How to Counter | Watch as the black orb absorbs the surrounding Chroma. Time your parries or dodges as soon as the Chroma is fully absorbed by the orb. Do note that the last hit will have a slightly different timing from the initial pulses. |

The Paintress conjures a huge paintbrush made of light, which she will swing at the entire team 3 times. |

The Paintress rips reality to summon 5 hurling balls of light onto the entire team. |

Unleash
|
The Paintress unleashes an 8-hit combo against one of your characters, with the last hit damaging the entire team. Each hit applies a stack of Burn. |

| How to Counter | Counter this move by memorizing the pattern and animation of the swings. The first part of the combo will be a downward slash followed by two simultaneous hits. This is succeeded by two more hits and then three separate ones. The swings will be fast, so time dodges or parries as it is about to connect. Be careful of the delayed attack at the end. |

Corrupted Chroma
|
The Paintress showers the team with dark Chroma, applying Defenceless, Powerless, and Curse to all characters. At the end of the move, The Paintress gains 9 points of Shield. |

The Paintress is only the final boss of Act 2, as the game shifts to Act 3 after her defeat. Renoir serves as the final boss of Act 3, making him the true final boss of the game overall.
The next act explores the story on a deeper level and features the game's true epilogue, which depends on the ending you choose. The epilogue after defeating The Paintress is not the real one.
