Paint Cages can be found in 11 areas in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with a total of 16 Paint Cages available in-game:

Flying Waters Paint Cages

 This Paint Cage is found very early into Flying Waters, just past the entrance, and is hard to miss due to the tutorial that pops up when you approach. |

| Flying Waters Paint Cage 2 | |
 In between the Coral Cave and Lumieran Streets rest points, there is a hole by the path that leads to an underground cave full of sea mines. The Paint Cage is in this area and is guarded by a fight with three Crulers. |

This one is farther away, located at the center of the cave, sticking to a sea mine. |
Flying Waters has two Paint Cages. One is near the entrance, while the other is in the latter half of the area after unlocking Maelle. These cages reward you with a Chroma Elixir Shard and a Revive Tint Shard.
Ancient Sanctuary Paint Cage
 From the Giant Bell Alley rest point, head back and hang a right, then move past the prowling Robust Sakapatate. Straight ahead will be the area where you collect the Journal of this area. The 3 Paint Cage locks are hidden in this area, near the Journal. From here, you can spot the Paint Cage up on a cliff. After shooting all the locks, you can get up to the Paint Cage by heading back out and turning left into a hidden path covered by trees. Do some minor platforming to across the statues to get to the Paint Cage. |

The first lock will be hidden inside a box. The box has a strange glow around it so it is easy to spot. |

The second one will be hidden between some stone cracks on the opposite side from the Journal. |

The third lock will be up on a cliff, opposite the Paint Cage. |
Ancient Sanctuary only has one Paint Cage. Opening it rewards you with one Chroma Elixir Shard.
Forgotten Battlefield Paint Cage
 Move past the Fading Woman and take the right passage. Found in the room on the first left of the path. Awards a Chroma Elixir Shard when broken. |

Facing the Paint Cage, turn around and return to the path. Look above to find the lock next to the fallen tree. |
Forgotten Battlefield also has one Paint Cage. This Paint Cage also rewards you with one Chroma Elixir Shard.

Frozen Hearts
 This Paint Cage is located immediately to the left upon exiting the cave where the Manor Door and Chromatic Veilleur is found. It is situated on a raised surface with burning rubble around it. |

The first lock can actually be approached before getting to the Paint Cage itself as it is situated on some ice spikes to the right. |

The second lock can also be shot before approaching the Paint Cage itself as it is visible at the top of the rubbled building. |

The third lock can also be shot before approaching the Paint Cage. The player must look up as it is located on a crane. |
Located after the subterranean cave with a Manor Door and an optional boss fight, turn left to immediately find this Paint Cage. This Paint Cage awards the Anti-Freeze Picto when broken.
Old Lumiere
 From the Manor Garden rest point, head inside the path directly opposite of the Manor. |

Old Lumiere has one Paint Cage, available after defeating the main story boss of the area. Awards the Redalim weapon for Lune when broken.

 From Dancing Classes, head towards the statue and enter the left chamber. Jump down the gap and continue onward to find the Paint Cage. Rewards Shield Affinity upon completion. |

Head towards the flying disc then face the entrance. The lock is found behind a large rock. |
| Sirene Paint Cage 2 |  Found within Tisseur's atelier. Climb the ledge on the left and follow the path to find the Paint Cage. Rewards a Revive Tint Shard upon completion. |

Facing the Paint Cage, turn right and look above the find the lock on the curtain. |

Turn your back towards the Paint Cage to find the lock attached to the base of a spool. |
Sirene has two Paint Cages, located near the Dancing Classes and Sewing Atelier rest points. These cages award the Shield Affinity Picto and a Revive Tint Shard respectively.
The Monolith

 Along the path towards the Tainted Meadows rest point from the Entrance, ride the ziplines down to the second level to find the Paint Cage. Awards a Revive Tint Shard when broken. |

 Along the path towards the Clair enemy at the end of Tainted Sanctuary, head inside the small gap and follow the path to find the Paint Cage. Awards Random Defense when broken. |

| The Monolith Paint Cage 3 |  After exiting the station, turn left towards the Gargant enemy, then grapple along the cliffside towards the next platform to find the Paint Cage. Awards Empowering Parry when broken. |

Face the path from where you came from to find the lock along the left side of the ledge. |
The Monolith has three Paint Cages located in Tainted Meadows, Tainted Sanctuary, and Tainted Hearts sections of the area. These cages awards a Revive Tint Shard and the Random Defense and Empowering Parry Pictos respectively.
Note that the Paint Cage found in Tainted Sanctuary requires finding at least 4 Lost Gestrals for the Paint Break ability to complete.

From the cliff face before the Chromatic Hexga lies a crawlspace to the right. Move there and climb the rope point to locate this paint cage. |

 The Paint Cage is located right above the Night Totem Rest Point. To access it, climb up via the handholds to the side. |

Flying Manor has 2 Paint Cages located in the Dualliste and Triple Eveque areas. These Paint Cages reward the Powerful Revive and Energising Stun Pictos respectively.
Note that one of Flying Manor's Paint Cage requires finding at least 4 Lost Gestrals for the Paint Break ability to complete.
How to Unlock Paint Cages
Shoot the Locks
All Paint Cages have locks that you need to shoot to get the rewards. These locks are always found nearby and usually glow white. Shoot them when you spot Painting Pages to unlock the cage. Shoot these to unlock Paint Cages and get the rewards inside.
What are Paint Cages?
Cages with Valuable Loots
Paint Cages work similarly to locked chests, where you need to find their unlocks while exploring. As mentioned above, these locks are often nearby, and once opened, the rewards inside are valuable.

Unlocks the Paint Cage Trophy

Break a Paint Cage. |
Breaking a Paint Cage unlocks its corresponding achievement. This trophy can be unlocked as soon as Flying Waters after the first Paint Cage encountered is broken.
