Northeast of Stone Wave Cliffs

A Painting Workshop can be found on an island between the Stone Wave Cliffs and Forgotten Battlefield areas. Enter the workshop via the painting found on the coast.
Upon entering, players will need to perform some platforming to reach the Faceless Boy. Speak to the NPC and agree to help him to acquire the Light of the Beast item.

A Painting Workshop can be found northwest of the Forgotten Battlefield. Head west immediately after exiting through the northern side of Forgotten Battlefield to find the painting resting on a rock between the trees.
Much like the Painting Workshop found near Stone Wave Cliffs, players will need to platform to reach the Faceless Boy. Agree to "put an end to her night" to obtain the Colour of the Beast item.
East of Sirene

A Painting Workshop can be found floating east of Sirene. Fly towards the floating island between Sirene and Sinister Cave to find the painting.
Note that this Painting Workshop can only be accessed at the start of Act 3 where flying with Esquie becomes available.
Agree to help the Faceless Boy to receive the Shape of the Beast for the statue near the rest point.

Agree to the requests of the Faceless Boy inside the Painting Workshop to obtain Quest Items hinting to the awakening of a beast.
At Death's Door and Energising Attack I
Defeating the Lampmaster after offering the Light, Colour, and Shape of the Beast awards the level 30 versions of At Death's Door and Energising Attack I.

Perfect Chroma Catalyst
After defeating Lampmaster, speak with the Faceless Boy near the exit portal to obtain a Perfect Chroma Catalyst. This item can upgrade weapons to the highest level.
What is the Painting Workshop?
Offer the Beast Items to Fight Lampmaster
Interact with the beast statue near the rest point and surrender the Light of the Beast, Colour of the Beast, and Shape of the Beast items to dispel the barrier at the end of the room. Entering the room triggers a boss fight with Lampmaster with a slightly different moveset.

The Faceless Boy is Young Verso
The Faceless Boy will give the Light, Colour, and Shape of the Beast after agreeing to help him in the Painting Workshops available throughout The Continent. Collecting all three and offering it to the statue unlocks a room that leads to a boss fight with Lampmaster.
This Lampmaster is the cause of the Faceless Boy's nightmares, as he mentions being able to sleep and dream again when speaking to him after its defeat. This coincides with a mention of Clea painting a monster to scare young Verso in the later acts.
The Faceless Boy is a Fragment of Verso
The Faceless Boy is seen again during the ending sequence, confirmed to be the final piece of the real Verso's soul. It continues to paint and maintain the Canvas where majority of the events of Expedition 33 takes place.
Verso perished in a fire in the world outside the Canvas. He sacrificed himself to save Alicia—revealed to be Maelle herself—who survived, but suffered burn marks that damaged her face and throat. As the real Verso has passed away, the final piece of his existence lies in the Faceless Boy and the very Canvas it maintains.
Deciding to let this final piece rest or letting it continue painting is where the ending splits. Ether let it continue to paint and aid Maelle live her life of fantasy, or let it rest to help the Dessendres move on at the cost of the Canvas and everything in it disappearing for good.
