Challenge Modifiers allow you to modify enemy and damage stats to make fights harder in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Find out how to enable them and the options available in this guide!
How to Enable Challenge Modifiers

Unlock Act 3: Maelle
Challenge Modifiers will only unlock during Act 3: Maelle and will not be available prior. Finish the earlier chapters and get through Act 3 to get this feature unlocked.
Note that the feature is designed mainly for endgame fights and we suggest using Challenge Modifiers only if you are in post-game or after finishing the main story of the game to fully utilize its features better.
Go to any Expedition Flag and Pick Challenges
Go to any Expedition Flag afterwards and select the Challenges tab, the option is in between New Game+ and Upgrade Expedition Resources. Do note that this is a recent addition and the players need to update to the 1.3.0 patch to have this option appear.
Adjust the Options to Your Liking
You will be in the Challenge Modifiers option screen, of which you can apply a damage cap to your attacks from 99,999 to 999,999 or increase enemy HP up to 100x of their original value.
This allows for more difficult and lengthier fights or even longer testing of equipment builds. These adjustments can be disabled anytime by going through any Expeditonary Flag and ticking Disable for the options modified.
What are Challenge Modifiers?
Modifies Enemy Stats and Damage Cap
Challenge Modifiers are combat modification features added in the 1.3.0 patch of the game released in June 2025 that allows players to modify the player's damage cap or the enemy's HP stats to make combat more challenging.
Stats Modified by Challenge Modifiers

These are the currently available challenge modifiers and the stats they alter. Note that these apply to all enemy combat in all of The Continent and will be active until the player disables the mods via an Expeditionary Flag.
