Lampmaster can be found in Stone Wave Cliffs during Act 1: Gustave as a Main Story Boss. The 56th Expedition Flag, Basalt Waves can be found near the boss area's entrance.

How to Beat Lampmaster

Destroy the Lamps During Phase 1

During phase 1, shoot the four floating lamps surrounding Lampmaster to disable its Light Shot attack.

Each lamp corresponds to one projectile, allowing Lampmaster to shoot up to four projectiles targeting random allies when left alone. These projectiles function similarly to Free Aim, giving Lampmaster an extra source of damage during its actions.

Can Leave At Least 1 Lamp for Extra Counters

Alternative, players can instead opt to leave at least one lamp alive if they can parry its projectile. This can allow an extra source of damage for the party, parrying a predictable projectile for an easy counterattack.

The lamps will always shoot in clockwise order starting from the bottom left lamp. Players can take advantage of this by purposely leaving alone the lamp they have most confident in parrying, as they can expect when the projectile will appear.

Shoot the Lamps in the Correct Sequence During Phase 2

During phase 2, its four lamps will glow red in a sequence. Remember the sequence and use Free Aim to shoot each lamp in the order they glow. Shooting the correct lamp will not consume AP, giving players free shots as long as the order is followed correctly.

When performed successfully, Lampmaster will take an extra instance of damage and cancels the use of Sword of Light on its following turn.

Note the Brief Delay In Its Attacks

All of Lampmaster's attacks will have a brief delay before attacking, followed by a quick execution. Be careful not to fall for its feints and press dodge or parry shortly after the brief delay occurs.

Lampmaster Attack Patterns

Light Shot

Lampmaster shoots at most 4 projectiles from its lamps, targeting a random ally.
How to Dodge Dodge shortly after the projectile is launched.
How to Counter Parry as soon as the projectile approaches. Can be disabled by shooting the lamps during an ally's turn.

Disrupting Attack

Lampmaster aims to disrupts an ally's actions, unleashing a 3-hit combo. Inflicts Dizzy when an attack hits.
How to Dodge Dodge as soon as the weapon is swung.
How to Counter Parry right before the attack connects.

Jump Attack

Lampmaster jump high then slams its weapon down after a brief delay.
How to Dodge Dodge as soon as Lampmaster descends from its jump.
How to Counter Focus on the weapon and parry when it is overhead a character.

Dark Explosion

Lampmaster coats its hand with dark sludge and slams its fist on an ally. Inflicts Exhaust when it hits.
How to Dodge Dodge after it swings its fist after it jumps. Note the brief delay between the jump and the attack.
How to Counter Focus on the fist. Parry right before its fist hits the ally.

Lamp Power

Lampmaster gathers energy at its center, then unleashes a wave of darkness targeting the entire party.
How to Dodge Dodge once the gathered energy glows white.
How to Counter Parry when the gathered energy is at its brightest.

Arm Combo

Lampmaster attacks with each arm, launching a 4-hit combo.
How to Dodge Dodge as soon as Lampmaster starts to spin for each sequence.
How to Counter Focus on the weapons and parry before it connects. The first arm thrusts downward with a lamppost, the second arm is an upward claw swipe reaching from the back, the third arm is an upward slash with the sword, and the final arm is a horizontal sweep.

Strange Ritual

Lampmaster performs a strange ritual with each of its lamps glowing red in a sequence.

How to Counter Shoot each lamp in the order they glow. Performing this correctly cancels its sword of light attack.

Sword of Light

Lampmaster summons a sword of light and performs a horizontal swing targeting the whole party. Only occurs if the Lamp Ritual succeeds.

How to Counter Focus on the sword. The sword will be raised on its left after it's drawn and pauses, then swiftly slashes diagonally while spinning. Parry as it spins around to slash.

Ball of Light

Lampmaster throws a vast ball of light at the Expedition.
How to Dodge Jump once the golden prompt appears.
How to Counter Attack after performing a successful jump dodge.

Flying Combo

Lampmaster performs a flying combo, attacking 4 times in succession.
How to Dodge Note the short delay between Lampmaster's attacks. Dodge shortly before the first three hits are executed. At the final attack, dodge after Lampmaster charges at the ally.
How to Counter Focus on the sword first, then the glowing arms next, and the sword again during the charge. Parry before the first downward slash connects, followed by the hand slam, then the backhand blow. Parry the sword as soon as it is near the character after it charges.
