There are 13 Status Effects and 4 Elemental Affinities in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. See a list of all Status Effects, the types of Elemental Affinities and elements, and how they work in this guide!
| All Status Effects | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Freeze | Stun | Inverted | Mark |
| Charm | Blight | Berserk | Cursed |
| Bound | Exhausted | Dizzy | Silence |
| Rage | Burn | - | - |
Freeze prevents the affected Character or Enemy from playing multiple turns in a row. However, the Status is removed when the affected target takes damage.
Stun will prevent the affected target from playing. A common way to apply Stun on enemies is through breaking them.
Inverted prevents the affected Character or Enemy from being healed. If the target were to be healed while suffering from Inverted, they instead take damage.
Mark is a status that increases the next amount of damage the target takes by 50%. Note that the Marked only lasts for one instance of damage.
Charm prevents the affected Character or Enemy from playing, and will instead cause the affected unit to target its allies for its duration.
Blight reduces the max HP of the affected Character or Enemy by 10%. A Character or Enemy can acquire multiple stacks of Blight, leading to larger HP reductions.
Berserk increases the damage of the affected Character or Enemy by 5%. Targets can accumulate up to 12 stacks of Berserk, for a maximum 60% damage increase.
Curse will instantly kill the affected Character or Enemy when its duration expires. Aim to clear this status off of party members as soon as possible to avoid an instant death.
Bound is a status that prevents the affected Character or Enemy from dodging attacks, meaning that party members affected by Bound can only Parry enemy attacks.
Exhausted prevents the affected Character from gaining AP from any source, blocking the use of Skills that require AP.
Dizzy is a status that makes it more difficult to Aim at enemies, making it less likely for players to hit Weak Spots when Aiming.
Silence prevents affected Characters from using their skills, leaving them with only regular Attacks to deal damage.
Rage makes the targeted Character play their turn twice in a row. This will cause the affected unit to take a second turn directly after their first one when inflicted with Rage.
Burn deals damage to the target at the beginning of their turn. It is possible to apply Burn multiple times, and increase its resulting damage.

Status Effects are special in-combat conditions that can affect allies and enemies. Various skills can inflict Status Effects, meaning that both players and enemies can apply them to their targets.
Aim to use these Status Effects to your advantage in battle, while also being cautious of enemies that can inflict them. Be sure to carry items or skills that can cure Status Effects in battle, should a character get hit by one.

Some enemies have Elemental Affinities, which are elements that they can be weak to or strong against. There are 7 elements that can become affinities; Ice, Light, Dark, Earth, Fire, Lightning, and Physical.
You must attack the enemy with the element they have a weakness to in order to deal more damage!
| Affinity Type | Effect |
|---|---|
| Weakness | Enemy takes 50% more damage from this element. |
| Resistance | Enemy takes 50% less damage from this element. |
| Nullify | Enemy takes no damage from this element. |
| Absorb | Enemy is healed instead of taking damage from this element. |
