Here is a leveling guide for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Learn how to level up fast and see the best farming locations in each Act!
Best XP Farming Locations
Act 1 - Hidden Gestral Arena
The best place to farm XP in Act 1 is the Hidden Gestral Arena. You can unlock this area after completing the events in Esquie's Nest.
To farm levels here, simply enter a combat and choose to battle Julien Tiny Head. It's also recommended to use Maelle equipped with Medalum to make the fight easier with parrying.
Do Optional Bosses
Alternatively, there are a couple of optional bosses you can fight in Act 1 to level up quickly, such as the Chromatic Abbest in Abbest Cave, which grants 50,000 XP upon defeat.
Act 2 - Sirene
The best farming spot in Act 2 is in Sirene. From the entrance, you’ll encounter plenty of Dancers, and each battle grants around 20,000–40,000 XP depending on the number of enemies per batch. This lets you farm around 100,000 XP and you can reset all enemies by resting at the Expedition Flag 67 to farm again.
Act 3 - Dark Shores Farming
For Act 3, the best spot for level farming is Dark Shores. Here, you can battle three Noire, which reward at least 800,000 XP in a single fight. The key to defeating these enemies, aside from using Light Skills, is to equip Light Weapons and parry or counter hits to maximize damage.
In addition to the XP, you'll also get a Grandiose Chroma Catalyst, allowing you to upgrade your weapons further to level 32.
Grour Merchant Farming at Level 80
When you reach Level 80, you can start farming Grour's merchant fight in Renoir's Drafts. Here, you battle a Contorsionniste and an Aberration alongside the merchant. This fight can be easily one shot using Maelle's glass cannon build once you have the right setup.
This fight rewards you with 2,000,000 EXP every time as well as a Colour of Lumina and a Grandiose Chroma Catalyst, both of which are important items for gearing up your characters even further.
New Game Plus - Monolith
In New Game Plus, when you reach inside the Monolith, look for the Portier enemy near the entrance. Defeating it along with two Lanceliers grants plenty of XP, allowing you to reach max level easily!
Leveling Guide for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Beat Enemies Near Expedition Flags
The easiest way to grind levels in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is to defeat enemies near Expedition Flags. This way, you can return to the Expedition Flags after a fight to heal your party and also have the enemies in the area respawn!
As for the best farming spots, this depends on your current level and progress. With this, whichever location you need to visit for your current main objective is the best farming spot to gain EXP!

If you are having a hard time defeating enemies quickly, we recommend optimizing your characters' pictos, skills, and attributes first. This way, you can maximize your party's damage output!

Max Level Cap in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Level 99 Is the Max Level
The player can reach up to Level 99 in-game. This is the max cap of all attributes, levels, and skills that naturally increase per character.
Once the player reaches Level 99, they will not gain any more EXP or stats but will still gain Lumina Points for upgrades.
