Renoir is a boss that is encountered in Act 2: Verso twice. He is first fought just before exiting Old Lumiere and fought for the second time at the top of the Monolith. Most of his attacks in the first fight are also included in his moveset in the second fight.

The first true fight against Renoir is when you reach the Manor in Old Lumiere. Following the story, you'll reach the Manor shortly after Verso leaves the party, leaving only Maelle to search for the others. Once you find the Manor Gardens checkpoint, go to the main door of the Manor to trigger the boss fight.

The second boss fight against Renoir occurs at the top of the Monolith. Once you reach the end of the "tainted" sub-area that resembles Old Lumiere, look for the Tower Peak checkpoint and pass through the narrow path ahead to fight Renoir again.

Renoir's Gradient Attack is an instakill move that removes the target from the fight if the counter fails. Vanished allies cannot be revived and will be unavailable for the remainder of the boss fight. Make sure to press the Gradient button when Renoir is about to strike the Void orb to counter the attack and save your ally.

Once Renoir's health drops to below 50%, he will summon two petals beside him that will heal him if left unchecked. Use area attacks or focus your single target attacks on these petals and destroy these immediately to avoid dragging the battle.
Alternatively, if you're confident, you can rush the fight by focusing all your attacks on Renoir and defeat him before the petals can act.
All of Renoir's attacks in the Old Lumiere fight will also be in his moveset in the Monolith fight. If you've mastered the dodge/parry timings of those attacks, this fight will be much easier for the most part.

Instead of summoning petals, Renoir will summon a Dark Creature that will instantly heal him to full health and apply the Enrage status to him once his health drops below 50%. The Enraged status allows Renoir to attack twice in a row. The Dark Creature has four attacks that Renoir can utilize during his turns.
| Attempts to vanish a party member and completely remove them from the battlefield. | |
| How to Dodge | Only the first hit can be dodged. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Use a Gradient Counter when Renoir jumps and is about to hit the black orb. |
| Performs a 5-hit combo with his cane starting with 3 slow attacks followed by a swipe and a jump attack. Later on in the fight, this extends to a 6-hit combo where Renoir unleashes a blast that can stun the target at the end of the attack. | |
| How to Dodge | The first 3 attacks have the same interval, which can be telegraphed by Renoir's arm movement. Prepare to dodge again after Renoir does a small jump and again after a higher jump. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Parry when you hear the audio cue of the first 4 hits. Ignore the "momentum" sound of the 5th hit and parry only at the end. |
| Jumps and summons a Chroma pool upon landing, dealing Void damage and inflicting Silence. | |
| How to Dodge | Press jump when the jump flare disappears. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Press the attack button after successfully jumping over the attack. |
| Performs 4 slow ranged attacks that deals Void damage. | |
| How to Dodge | For the first 3 attacks, dodge whenever Renoir's movement slows down. The long windup of the 3rd attack might bait you into dodging early. When Renoir jumps, dodge after his brief pause midair. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Memorize the tempo of each hit as their intervals differ from each other. Parry all 3 ranged attacks and the ground slam to counter. |
| Gathers an incredible amount of Chroma that explodes on the entire party after the buildup. | |
| How to Dodge | This attack cannot be dodged. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Press the Gradient Parry button when the large orb disappears. |
| Summons the Dark Creature to claw the target thrice. | |
| How to Dodge | Dodge when the Dark Creature moves its arm downwards. The second claw attack will be faster than the first, so dodge as soon as it raises its arm. The last hit is as slow as the first and can easily be telegraphed. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Parry all 3 hits to counter. Remember that the second claw attack is faster so press the parry button about 0.5 seconds after the first. |
| Summons the Dark Creature to shoot 3 projectiles with roars. | |
| How to Dodge | Press the dodge button whenever the Dark Creature's face glows. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Press the parry button whenever the Dark Creature's face glows. Parry all 3 projectiles to perform a Counter. |
| The Dark Creature attacks while flipping backwards before launching itself back to the party. | |
| How to Dodge | Look at the Dark Creature's feet and dodge when it finishes charging up the first hit, then jump when the jump flare disappears as it lunges towards you. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Press the parry button after the short charge up then perform a counter after jumping over the lunge attack. |
| The Dark Creature unleashes a Gradient Attack with its tail. | |
| How to Dodge | This attack cannot be dodged. |
|---|---|
| How to Counter | Press the Gradient Parry button about 0.5 seconds after the frame freeze. |
