Flying Waters

Goblu can be found in Flying Waters - Flower Fields during Act 1: Gustave as a Main Story Boss. The 59th Expedition Flag can be found near the boss area's entrance.

How to Beat Goblu

Shoot the Flowers

Shoot the flowers when they appear to remove Goblu's ability to buff itself at a later turn. These flowers are immune to AoE and can only be damaged via shooting, requiring characters to spend at least 1 AP to take a flower down.

When left alone, Goblu will later absorb all the flowers alive in the field. Goblu will gain 1 shield for every 1 blue flower absorbed, as well as a damage buff based on the number of red flowers that remained.

Prioritize Shooting the Blue Flowers

It is recommended to prioritize shooting the blue flowers first to save AP. While the damage buff from the red flowers can be a threat, it is best to learn its moveset and dodge or parry accordingly and use the AP to deal damage instead.

Do Not Use Jump

Refrain from using jump to dodge its attacks, as its attack patterns cannot be dodged via jumping. Rely on dodging or parrying instead to mitigate damage and/or unleash counters.

Use Lightning Damage to Exploit Its Weakness

Goblu is weak to Lightning, hence, use skills such as Gustave's Overcharge or Lune's Thunderfall to deal large amounts of damage.

It is best to end the fight as soon as possible as prolonging it can be dangerous once Goblu's flower buffs starts to stack. Goblu can later one-shot allies once it absorbs enough red flowers, hence, it is imperative to be on the offensive while destroying the blue flowers to end the fight early.

Goblu Attack Patterns

Triple Jump

Goblu jumps three times to inflict damage to all party members.
How to Dodge Dodge just before Goblu lands on the ground. Do not use Jump as you will receive damage.
How to Counter Parry just before Goblu lands on the ground. Note the slight delay on the third jump.

2-Hit Melee Combo

Goblu hits a party member with its arms twice.
How to Dodge Dodge once Goblu's arm starts to swing down.
How to Counter Parry once Goblu's arm starts to swing down.

Summon Flowers

Goblu summons multiple flowers.
How to Dodge Cannot be dodged.
How to Counter Shoot each flower's orb to destroy it. When left alone, Goblu will later absorb all flowers and gain shields and a damage buff based on the number of blue and red flowers consumed.

4-Hit Melee Combo

Goblu hits a party member with its arms four times. Only occurs when Goblu is at low health.
