You can use Hides to create different types of Leather using a settlement's Tannery. Doing so raises your Leatherworking trade skill.

Defeat and Skin Animals

Several types of Hides can be obtained from skinning animals throughout Aeternum.

Hunting and skinning the animals improves your Tracking & Skinning trade skill.

Buy from the Trading Post

Hides can also be bought from the Trading Post in the settlement. Note that you need to check the market from the Trading Post screen to see which areas sell the materials.
