Please note that the New World Team has stopped covering the game as of Update 1.2. Information on certain pages may not be up-to-date.
Housing in New World not only serves the player a place to call home, but it also provides benefits by giving them new Fast Travel options and Buffs. This guide will show you all the benefits of owning a house in Aeternum and how to get one!
List of Contents
Aside from finally getting yourself a place to call home, you'll now be able to use it as a recall point you can select when Fast Travelling works similarly to an inn.
The only downside is that the cooldown is twice as long, but it can be refreshed in exchange for a small amount of Azoth, compared to Fast Travelling, which is much cheaper.
Trophies can be acquired to provide players different kinds of buffs depending on the Trophy displayed in your home.
These can be crafted from the Workshop Station given you have enough Furnishing Skill to create one or can be bought from the Trading Post using gold.
You can also use your house as extra storage to place your items in. To unlock this feature, you'll have to get storage chests. These are available through crafting using the Workshop Station, or you can buy one straight from the Trading Post.
Once you've acquired one, simply place it down anywhere in your house and interact with it to open up the storage menu of your home. You can increase your storage capacity by placing more chests in your home.
You also gain bonuses on which settlement you live in depending on the selected buffs given by the governing company.
To check what active buffs are currently available for your settlement, head to your local town hall and interact with the Territory planning board inside. From there, click on the Improve Lifestyle, and you'll be able to see the list of Active Buffs.
To buy yourself a home to live in New World, you must have your character be level 15, have reached a Territory Standing of 10 in the area where you want to get a house, and have enough gold to purchase one.
Once you meet all the requirements, simply go to a settlement and choose from the houses available, which have different designs and benefits based on their tiers.
Tier | Cost Discount |
Fast Travel Cooldown | Storage Limit | Req. Standing Level |
---|---|---|---|---|
I | 5,000 Gold 2,500 Gold |
4 Hours | 1 | 15 |
II | 10,000 Gold 5,000 Gold |
3 Hours | 2 | 15 |
III | 15,000 Gold 7,500 Gold |
2.5 Hours | 3 | 20 |
IV | 20,000 Gold 10,000 Gold |
2 Hours | 4 | 30 |
If you're buying a house for the first time, there is a 50% discount on your first purchase but do take note of the Property Tax before buying one!
Once you have your house, you will need to take care of the weekly Property Tax, which you can settle by going inside your home, then pressing the N
key to bring up the screen to pay your taxes. The amount required to pay for your taxes depends on various factors. This includes the tier of your house, the territory standing bonus, and the company that manages the settlement.
If you can't pay after the due date, you won't get kicked out, but features such as fast travel, trophy buffs, and the ability to place furniture down will be disabled until you can pay for it.
You can reduce the tax you have to pay from owning a house by selecting the Property Tax decrease card from the Territory Standing bonus. Being a member of the company that manages the settlement also reduces the amount you need to pay. If you're buying for the first time, you'll receive a 50% discount for the first payment.
Territory Standing Bonuses Guide
If one home isn't enough, you can start buying more houses throughout Aeternum for a maximum of 3, which you can unlock by leveling up your character as part of the Leveling Rewards.
Required Level | Unlocked |
---|---|
Level 15 | First House |
Level 35 | Second House |
Level 55 | Third House |
Do note that you'll have to pay the Property Tax for each of the houses you buy. Make sure to have enough gold income to maintain all of your homes..
If you decide that you don't fancy a house anymore or if you want to upgrade your home, then you have the option to abandon your current house.
To do this, head over to your house and press the N
Key. There will be a button with the label Abandon this house.
Press the button, then confirm, and congratulations, you are now homeless again! After you've abandoned your house, all your furniture will go straight to your town storage, and you will not receive any kind of refund for doing so.
One of the ways you can get your furnishing from is by crafting one in the Workshop Station. You will have to level your Furnishing Skill to unlock more furnishing to decorate your house.
If you have enough gold to spare, you can just buy all the furniture available for your house in the Trading Post. This includes decors, trophies, and storage chests.
